It makes me wonder if those ...

Re: How are your acquisitions this year?
:topic I bought all of them at Mandarake. I did register at SMJ last week, but I found the winning auction prices much higher than those at Mandarake so far. (Seriously, they ask 3,000 yen for 3 rough sketches? I bought a few sets of 25 sketches, each for less than that price on Mandarake.) I know w...

Re: $Million Artwork Damaged by Cleaning Lady
Reminds me of the Andy Rooney 60 Minutes commentary where he puts artwork from "artists" and those from a pre-school and asks the experts to identify which item came from an "artist" and which came from the pre-school. Sadly, a lot of the experts thought the pre-school stuff was...

Nevertheless, his works rarely found buyers during his lifetime, and then generally under $10,000. Since his early death from liver cancer at 44, however, Kippenberger's works have risen dramatically in value, with one sculpture topping the $2M mark at a recent auction. He is perhaps best known for...

Re: 2011 Annual Cel contest
Really I don’t care as long as we have an awards. Yes its sucks to use a more inconvenient system but can we really expect to use it forever? I also haven’t seen anybody quick to jump on the awards until now.. I’m grateful iceman57 is taking the time to keep it going. So however he’s going to do it ...

Re: How are your acquisitions this year?
I count that I added 121 items to my collection this year. Most of these, though, were backgrounds from one of my favorite anime and I counted them as a single item. My breakdown is like this - Japanese Auction Sites - 57 US Auction Sites - 11 Conventions (Sketches/Autographs rec'd or purchased) - ...
