Your 2 non-Akira/Ninja Scroll cels are great gets, so I wouldn't feel bad about breaking your rule.

Re: Video Game Cels!
I only have a hanken sketch from what friends have told me was made for a visual novel type game. As of yet I still have not found out which one http://ryan.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=375597 Well, I posted a link to your sketch on a video game forum I frequent to try and ID this for...

Re: Is your collection focused or a giant assortment?
There are some random bits, but lots of times the random purchase has led to my exploring a series that initially I didn't know much about but later came to enjoy and appreciate. This has happened to me quite a few times as well. I'll pick up a random cel and do a little research on it, and then fe...

Cuphead: New hand-drawn animated video game
Is anyone here familiar with the newly released video game for PC and XBox One, Cuphead? It is a throwback to 1930's animation and is a very pretty game. The characters were all hand-drawn using paper and pencil. The backgrounds were all water-colored. And even the soundtrack was jazz recorded live....

Video Game Cels!
As someone who loves playing video games, I think it's pretty cool to find artwork from video games here and there. I don't have much, but I am always interesting in seeing it. I do actually have some production artwork from Tatsunoko VS Capcom that I haven't yet put in my gallery. I also have a set...

Is your collection focused or a giant assortment?
What kind of collector are you? Do you like to collect a certain kind of artwork, as in mostly pretty girls or boys or animals or something? Do you collect only for series you enjoy? Do you collect for only 1 series, or even 1 character? Do you collect only a certain type of thing, like strictly shi...

Any young collectors nowadays, or are we all seasoned?
I'm quite sure that most of us that collect cels grew up in the days when animation was actually done using cels. I'm 37, for instance. But I wonder if there are actually collectors out there younger that are maybe 25 or younger. Do you know any? Are any members of this forum? If so, what got you in...

Re: To watermark or not to watermark, that is the question...
Sorry to post in an old topic. i hope I'm not breaking any rules by doing so. Hmm...maybe I should actually read up on the rules again. X| Anyway, I'm just making conversation. Anyway, I don't watermark. I own the original artwork in my gallery. I really don't mind if people repost it, not that I've...

Re: Where do you buy your cel bags from?
Heiko all the way for me: http://www.heikoinc.com/ I bought my 1st cel bags ever from eBay, and they were Heiko bags. Once I found their website, I've just ordered directly from them. I get the T 24.5-30 bags for standard cels, and the T 28-43 for my oversized cels. I also have a bag of poster-sized...

Old topic I know, but that's pretty amazing! I assume you got your cels back sensei? Any word on their reception? Did the museum give you any feedback after the exhibit?

Re: Changing Tides
Ever since learning about vinegar syndrome, I've started to want to collect more pencil work. And knowing that douga can be traced,I've focused more on wanting genga or commissioned, original artwork from main animators. But I still collect the other stuff.

Re: What bothers you about this hobby?
Besides not liking the insane and nearly criminal overpriced cel prices on ebay, I've been wondering if the hobby would benefit or be not, by having an official standard to grade and/or price cels? Much like how slabbing comics (ref: https://comicspectrumblog.wordpress.com/2014/08/29/to-slab-or-not...

Does it bother you when you don't know where your cel's from?
Do you have quite a few, or even just that one cel that you have no idea what source it is from? There are occasional posts where people ask for ID info? Maybe we should start an all-in-one thread (unless one exists somewhere that I didn't see) where we can all look and maybe some of us will have an...

Re: Seeking help for non-fiction book about collecting cels
There is a lot of info posted on this site already about these things. I learned most of what I know about cels in this very forum, I dare say. I would say look around, take notes, make note of the information source to ask about printing and to give credit to, and of course ask any specific questio...
