Re: Holy Grail Update!! Disney Peter Pan Art
Holy cow, what an amazing piece. That's the sort of thing I'd hang on my wall as just a print. I can't imagine having the original... Congrats! Whatever it cost you I am sure it was worth it.

Re: Anyone been to the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo?
I think so. I think foreigners are allowed in for 90 mins, but I could be wrong. (I'm not Japanese, but I live in Japan so I was not subjected to that stipulation). However, we were limited for time because the museum closed on us hehehe. So I'd say go earlier if at all possible. The website has a p...

Re: Anyone been to the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo?
You need to buy a ticket in advance, if you don't already know that. So it's good you're asking about April, cause you've got time to get them still. I don't know when it's busy or not, I've only been the once. We only had about 90 mins to look around and definitely wanted more time, so I'd get an e...

Anyone been to the Ghibli Museum in Tokyo?
I went last week, and there are several rooms which are absolutely papered with Miyazaki sketches, genga, cel backgrounds, settei, etc. the whole lot. Some of them were just breathtaking. I'm assuming they weren't originals because many of them were just straight up thumbtacked to the walls... but i...

Re: JustVan's Happy New Acquisitions
Some new pretty shinies have come to me recently. This awesome Vegeta from near the end of the series: http://justvan.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=392444 Vegeta cels always go for so much, especially with the recent resurge of interest in DBZ cels so I never thought I'd get a nice one,...

Re: Annual Cel Contest 2015!! - WINNERS ANNOUNCED!!!
Awesome job running the contest, and congrats to all the winners. The awards look really nice and really makes me wish we could have more sections for images beyond just two on our Rubberslug site. I only made out with two 3rd place pieces (Group and Monochrome), but I honestly wasn't sure any of my...

Re: How do you determine the price of a cel?
Thanks for all of the great and insightful answers everyone. These cels are being sold by an actual dealer, so the issue with them being from a collector shouldn't apply. (Though they may be selling from their private collection I guess.) I actually just purchased a cel from them that I thought was ...

How do you determine the price of a cel?
Obviously if there are enough of them on the market you can determine based on how much they sell for, but for rarer things, it can be more difficult as rare doesn't always translate into worth a lot if no one is collecting it. There is a specific case I'm thinking of where a cel dealer has a couple...

KinoLRB, I want to continue this thread, but I can't figure out where your cel gallery is, and I'm guessing no one else can either. Can you please repost with a link to your cel gallery? Otherwise I nominate we skip him/her for now.

Re: My Cel Restoration!
Looks good, and definitely better than with the paint holes in it. Not sure I could do something similar, but if you're happy with the end results, and they do look good, that's what matters. You turned a junk cel into a piece of art again. Bravo. Still planning to paint him some arms?

The Animation Process of Sailor Moon - A video!
I came across this video on Facebook today, of all places. I apologize if it's been posted here before, but it was new to me, so I wanted to share. It's a brief documentary showing the creation of Sailor Moon cels. I found the process really fascinating! I know more or less how cels are made, but ac...

Neither of these links worked for me/took me to an image. Try uploading to imgur.com, it's free and shouldn't have any bandwidth problems.

Re: thoughts on prices in a weak economy??
I would say many things, in fact probably even *most* things, do not retain their value or appreciate. I paid $24,000 for a car once and got about $6,000 for it 10 years later. Obviously I used it during that time, but I didn't expect it to go up in value. Sometimes things do maintain their value or...

Can anyone ID this YJ Ranma 1/2 Nabiki cel?
Can any of you ID where this Nabiki cel comes from? http://page12.auctions.yahoo.co.jp/jp/auction/p494232534 The price is really impressively high, especially for a Nabiki. I don't recognize the scene at all, and I'm primarily a Nabiki collector when it comes to Ranma cels. I'm fairly confident it i...
