Re: A word of caution when using Mylar/polyester bags to store sketches
Good to know, I may have some sketches in Mylar bags as they were bought that way. What is the downside of using polypropylene bags for sketches? Most of mine are in those. I believe there is still a (much smaller) risk of static cling with polypropylene. Also, polypropylene is a less stable materi...

A word of caution when using Mylar/polyester bags to store sketches
As I think most of us are aware, Mylar (polyester) bags are not recommended for cel storage. Despite their many advantages over polypropylene and polyethylene bags, their big downside is that cel paint will easily stick to Mylar. However, it is often recommended to use Mylar for sketch storage. The ...

Re: Show your most out-of-the-way
You should check out Star Phoenix Art Gallery for some really beauties of Disney concept art. S-P has really gone to some lengths to trace and negotiate purchase of some vintage art, some of it passed down in the families of animators who kept art they really cherished or animators' friends who wer...

Re: Show your most out-of-the-way
In my case, I hadn't even heard of "The Magic Pearl" until I saw this background. It was simply listed as "Original production Cel - 1995 River Goddess Temple". The seller (based on their other listings) is a storage unit flipper, owns a second-hand shop, or something similar... ...

Re: Show your most out-of-the-way
I just received this in the mail, and I figured it would be perfect for this thread. This is a color concept background painted by Barbara Schade. She did background work for Disney, Film Roman, Hanna Barbera, and other studios. This background concept was created for "The Magic Pearl", an...

The Animation Art Wiki
Hello Everyone! This post is a little different than most in this section. I'd like to share "my" website, but in this case it happens to be a wiki... and not a gallery. A few of us have been working (off and on) to compile some of the "communal" knowledge about this hobby found ...

Congrats on your first cel! I own a few pieces from Little Nemo as well.
I've always loved the film.

Re: I need a gallery...
I'm a little late to the party, but I host my gallery on Artwork Archive. It isn't free, but I've found that it does a good job of helping me organize.
My gallery: www.cartoonedin.com
Password: inkonpaper (I only have it password protected to prevent Google from scraping all my images).

Re: While changing out my cell bags...
When I post items to my gallery, I usually crop out the edges. I don't crop out the art of course, but most of the identifiable numbering, notes in the margins, the paint overage at the edges of backgrounds, etc. My thought is, in the unlikely event that someone takes my images and attempts to "...

Re: Backer Boards for Sketches
I've gotten a couple of people asking where I buy my boxes. You can find them here: https://www.lodima.org/archival-materials/archival-boxes/ The boxes in my pictures are the 11x14x3in boxes. The boxes ship pre-made, so shipping costs can be a little high (depending on where you live). However, the ...
