Holy Grail Update!! Disney Peter Pan Art
I FINALLY got a chance to update my Mary Blair Holy Grail piece. I spent several years in search for the perfect Mary Blair concept art and I finally found it. It is also one of the nicest pieces I have ever seen in person and one of the largest Mary Blair pieces I have seen. The detail on this piec...

Re: Getting your collection insured
I am almost 99.9% sure most companies do not. For art, it usually requires a separate plan that have to be approved by the insurance company.momo wrote:Would renters insurance also cover a cel collection? Thanks.

Re: 2015 Year in Review and 2015 Cel/Sketch Resolutions
1. What was the best thing that's happened to your gallery/collection in 2014? I *finally* found a very highly sought after piece from Mary Blair that I have been patiently searching for the past 8 years. I do not have it updated yet in my gallery. But, it is comparatively one of the nicest pieces ...

Re: Annual Cel Contest 2015!! - WINNERS ANNOUNCED!!!
Congrats to all the winners and thanks to all who worked hard at putting it together this year and making it happen. It always gets challenging to do the contest in this time of year. The turn out this year was higher than I had expected. Quite pleased with this. It means the interest and the commun...

Re: To watermark or not to watermark, that is the question...
I watermark the larger scans of all my art. The reason for this is when I first started posting scans of my art over 12-13 years ago, I ended up finding images of my Anime art on fan made merchandise on eBay (particularly the Inuyasha and Fushigi Yuugi art I had) and fan cels were made from my art. ...

Re: Misadventures in Cel Collecting - Share Your Horror Stories
I had a couple horror stories in my 17 years of collectinig. A. Back in 2003, I ended up buying a reproduction cel when it was stated as original production cel, and did not know enough about the series to know they made repros from the studios. I had to force a return on that one back to the seller...

Re: What draws you in?
When I used to collect Anime, I would often times collect Bishounen like Sesshoumaru from Inuyasha, Yue from Card Captor Sakura, Kurama/Yohko Kurama from YYH. I also had a lot of favorites in mech/tech and robots. My vintage art collection if quite different though.... very hard to say as far as pat...

Re: Annual Cel Contest 2015!! - NOW ACCEPTING ENTRIES!!
I have a questions....
What would be considered/qualified as a Shikishi? I see an entire range of what they are, but some may cross over as a painting vs as a shikishi. Just wanted to be clear before submissions.

Re: The Choices, the Choices
I honestly am not one of the ones that saw 300+ series. In fact, I doubt I have even seen 100 series during my 17 years since I had first started seeing Anime. Even now, the # of series I watch is maybe 1 if I even have time. When I collected from Anime a few years back, I based my choices on availa...

Re: Annual Cel Contest 2015!! - A Tentative Start!!
I vote on Novel Set-up to be brought back..
I do wish there is a way to get on board a pre-production section because a lot of people have great model sheets/cels that deserve a place in the contest, but would not necessarily fit in any of the themed categories.

Re: Getting your collection insured
First, get an assessment of how much $$ your collection is worth. I had responded to your pm, but will also post it here. The insurance I have will also cover damage to the art piece if it falls from the wall. They will actually pay for the cost to have it repaired. So, look into that as an option. ...

Re: What experiences have effected your collecting?
I really did not have any "big" happen to me that changed my collecting habits. In relation to collecting, I have had a couple of bad experiences where I ended up with overpaying for art and, due to whatever financial or ambitious reason, resold it for 10-20% of my original cost. That made...
