Re: Any Shitajiki / Pencil Board Collectors around?

* Are you a new, old, and/or current collector? Mostly old stuff, but I keep some of the newer freebies that come in the manga as furoku. * What series, artist, group, ect do you collect from the most..? Dear god, no idea. My shitajiki collection is a lot like my cel collection, massive and random. ...

Re: What series would you collect from if available

I've been looking for two things that I haven't found any of. First is the WMT series Shoukoushi Cedie or Little Lord Fauntleroy. I've been checking Yahoo Japan auctions for a couple of years and have never found any, though I'm sure they must exist out there somewhere. The other I'd like to get cel...

Re: How do you get money to buy cels/sketches?

I chose option 1. While I don't have a part of my salary set aside just for cels, when I do want to buy something I typically have enough not to worry about it. I've been buying less and less the past few years, and most of what I buy is cheap anyway. :)

Bidding wars

I like to keep an eye on Nintama auctions. Lately there have been a lot of genga sets showing up from recent seasons, several of which I've bought. 90% of these went for minimum bid, typically 4-5000 yen. Some of them have had really nice drawings of some of the older students. One of these days I'l...

Re: What else do you collect besides animation artwork?

In addition to cels and animation art, I collect trading cards, pencil boards, Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle stuff (more picky than I used to be), Teddy Ruxpin stuff, Avatar the Last Airbender toys and stuff, some plushes and gashapon, comic books, rocks, fossils, mineral samples, shot glasses, dvds, ...

Let me tell you how lucky I am

So I got the new storage set up in March. In April, a pipe broke in the attic. It brought down the ceiling in the master bathroom, and flooded the master bathroom, bedroom, closets, part of the guest bedroom, and other bathroom. If my cel books had still been in cardboard boxes on the floor in the c...

Re: Translation help?

I used to go to Tsutaya pretty much weekly when I lived in Japan, and I used to love when they would put the videos up for sale. I also brought back quite a few from Japan with me. There are actually a few shows, mostly one-shots, that have never been rereleased on DVD or BD, so I'm glad I kept some...

Re: Itoya folder alternatives? Cel bags?

If you have a comic book shop anywhere near you, check if they have any bags. The ones that fit best are officially called "Life Magazine" size, 11 1/8 x 15 1/8 inches. A smaller store might not carry them, but larger comic stores often do. That size will fit a standard cel with about 1/2 ...

Seller with his own deputy l5ft4gw6k8

So, having watched the auctions relisted over and over and over and over and over, has anyone ever tried buying anything from YJ seller l5ft4gw6k8? I know he doesn't allow the regular deputies, but has an email address in his auctions for his own deputy. Has anyone ever tried buying from him using t...

New storage

So for the past howevermany years, all my cel books have been in cardboard boxes on the floor in my closet. I finally decided enough was enough. I was going to try to get some kind of shelving custom made, but browsing IKEA's website I noticed the BESTA shelving unit which is about 15 inches deep an...

Re: Poster Sized Artwork

In my job I've often had to use large-format scanners to scan maps and cross sections. No way in hell would i put artwork through the scanner. It might go through fine, but it can also catch, crease, wrinkle, or even tear. I wouldn't take the chance. I scan my large ones in pieces and just use gimp ...
