That's about what I got out of it. I'm still confused, but if I find something to bid on at least I have a plan!

I don't know about any of that, but I did get a response from Mandarake on my question of how the minimum bid figures in winning an auction. Here's the answer: "The reason why you need the minimum bid is because if nobody else places a bid, you are getting the item for the minimum bid, not the ...

Thanks, Remi, for that detailed explanation. I should have deconstructed their response more carefully. I did write and ask for clarification of the low bid factor in the First Choice bid, but I haven't heard anything back yet.

That always seemed kinda nutty to me considering how much each catalog costs. I know it! But it looks like they're not adding their usual 10% (if I remember right) buyers premium, so maybe they figure charging 27 bucks for each bid makes up for it. It's still unclear to me whether bidders get first...

I thought I understood how it works, but when I wrote asking for clarification (Am I correct that if I buy two copies of the catalogue, I will be able to bid on two items?), I got the following answer: "Regarding your question, yes, for First Choice Bid you can place a bid for two items if you ...

At least in my limited experience (10-15 cels), I think Mandarake bends over backwards to make sure people know what they're getting, and it typically sounds worse than it is. I think many of the "defects" Mandarake lists would be ignored by a lot of cel dealers. Tril P.S. Nice gallery! We...

That's a tough one, but I voted to buy it. It IS just like one you already have, but you love the sequence. I haven't collected any sequences yet, but I've been thinking about it because lately I've been imagining having all or as many as possible of the cels in a sequence framed in a solid horizont...

Man, that's a tough one. I really kind of like #2 better because she's more animated (no pun intended), which I like. However, the #1 is probably the money shot--face on, her whole upper body, including hair, in the shot. But if you want to make more money, #1 would probably bring more.

birdie, I think those are great cels and good buys! I'm not a DBZ collector, but I like those more than some DBZ that went for much more. I think the prices on those and the AMG cels really illustrate that there's no rhyme or reason to prices on the Big Web Auction!

I didn't bid on anything either. Everything went beyond my reach early or the starting price was too high. It was interesting though. I don't really know AMG prices, but some of them went for huge amounts, and some didn't get any bids at all. That gorgeous Urd OP is in its last half hour and hasn't ...

When birdie told me how she acquired that unbelievable cel, THAT'S when I decided to check out Mandarake! I've never done the Zenbu, but I keep close track of the Everyday Auction. I did hesitate at first because it seemed very complicated, but it's not really. You register, you bid. And if you win,...

Those are really good points, Remi. I'm still a beginning collector, and especially of Kenshin, so while I like action shots best, I'm still looking for portraits to round out my collection (hah! my collection consists of three of Kenshin himself so it has a ways to go to be well-rounded). So since ...
