I would recommend Kiyozumi Deri - it's one of the most famous sight-seeing spots in Kyoto. The Nanzenji temple complex is also nice, and you can start the Philosopher's walk from somewhere near there. The Nishiki Street Market is packed with vendors selling all kinds of Japanese foodstuffs. I wasn't...

I'm surprised you don't have Candy Candy on that list - it's definitely on top with the other shoujo anime you've listed.

Nice cel gallery, btw.

I mean, something about the look btwn his eyes and nose is wrong..... Actually, it's a really nicely done fancel. It matches the picture in my artbook almost perfectly, except for the lapels of the jacket of course. But I would warn others not to bid on any other auctions by the seller - they're si...

I know that they're better taken care of in stores than a lot of cels. I remember seeing a store that had racks and racks of glass display shelves that had these phone cards, and each of these card was set in its own upright metal card holder. Whereas most cels I saw were lumped in these ugly folders.

I've seen the two auctions that the seller posted up before. Both looked very suspicious - the first one was CCS, the second one was MKR. The description was the same as this one - for a pan cel. Sorry I didn't post my reservations earlier - I know a deputy service won the first cel. I am sure that ...

hyelakingsfan, The cards in the auction look like collector cards. Somone correct me if I'm wrong, but collector phone cards are literally phone cards. They're the size of credit cards, with a monetary value on them for making calls. They're used a lot in Asia, where public phones have a slot for yo...

In my opinion, the only thing crazier than *cough* paint and acetate collecting is phone card collecting. Some measly dinky piece of 2x3 plastic selling for thousands of dollars???

Good luck. I know it's a tough situation. And I agree, taking a breather is the best way to get some perspective.

One more post on this subject. ^^ Jenn, I think I know what post you're talking about. http://www.anime-beta.com/phpBB/viewtopic.php?t=8118&highlight=codecs Eoc has the right links, but he has containers and codecs confused. Containers just holds everything together - and a lot of them are not c...

Media Player Classic seems to be a favourite player amongst many video fans too but I've not had experience with it. I belive it has more codecs already bundled with it as opposed to the default Microsoft you get with the Windows operating system. I'm pretty sure that Media Player Classic does NOT ...

Yes, as lys said, mkv is a container for audio/video/subtitle, like avi . You need to install these below to play mkvs: 1. Matroska splitter - to parse Matroska streams http://haali.cs.msu.ru/mkv/ 2. VSFilter / DirectVobSub - most likely you will need this. It allows soft subtitles to be displayed. ...

Sonmay and EverAnime were Taiwanese companies that made bootleg CDs. I don't know if they're based in Taiwan anymore, since Taiwan joined the WTO. But if you were looking for hi-q bootlegs, I would recommend the Sonmay ones. The packaging on the Sonmay ones are superior - their booklets look identic...

I would recommend a program called NJ Star Communicator. It lets you read mulitple Asian languages in your broswer. It also lets you type in those languages (super useful). Google it. If you want to install something Microsoft-based, there is the Global Method Input Editor. You have the option of in...

Kinda late, but... Well, I had wanted to go, since I live in Atlanta too, but the only day I could go was on Sunday, and since there is no public transportation on Sunday for Cobb Transit, I'll have to drop it (I hate driving in Atlanta). Anyways, I would love to know how many cel dealers were there...
