Re: Your Collecting Journey part 2

Back when you first started your collection what were your goals? I didn't have any goals. I got hooked on anime when Robotech aired back in the 80s. That led me to meet a fellow fan at university who introduced me to anime proper through the original Bubblegum Crisis (on laserdisc no less). Fast f...

Re: What's your "Holy Grail" cel/sketch/whatever

Resurrecting this thread yet again since I seem to have missed it *twice* now. I didn't think I had been around long enough the first time, but yes, I was registered at the time (I checked). Obviously, I'm not on here very often (and my gallery hasn't been updated in ages). I have many amazing thing...

Re: Otakon 2013

Still have no idea how many people are coming, but I'm all for a meet-up time permitting. I'm going to bring two of my cel books with me, though I won't necessarily have them on me at all times. The books have a variety of cels, douga/genga, and rilezu in them from: Azumanga Daioh, Cowboy Bebop, Kar...

Re: Otakon 2013

Thanks for the heads up on the lottery for Yoko's autograph. I'll have to keep an eye out to see how that's going to work. Not even sure when the autograph session will occur, but I guess I'll make time if I can. Was mostly interested in seeing her perform versus the autograph.

Otakon 2013

Anyone planning on going to Otakon this year? August 9 - August 11, 2013 Baltimore Convention Center Baltimore, Maryland, USA I haven't been in a few years, but Yoko Kanno on Sunday is irresistible. Was wondering if anyone else planned to go. If there is interest, I can see about bringing some of my...

I have approximately 20 cels in my collection that I would not ever sell. Well, at least that number. I've had offers on several of them, but I don't even entertain them. The one that most comes to mind is a rilezu from Ai Yori Aoshi: http://whimsical.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=70032...

I'm a bad cel collector :-). My purchases this past year were the same as the year before that. Zero. I guess I'm on a bit of a hiatus. I got to a point where my collection had reached a pretty good size, and the prices for what I wanted were getting higher and higher. I guess it corresponded with t...

My most expensive cel is from Kare Kano. I've spent more in total on Haibane Renmei (rilezu), Scrapped Princess (more rilezu), Maison Ikkoku, and IY, but for one cel, Kare Kano gets it.

#2, FWIW, is a Madoka cel from Kimagure Orange Road.

And yes, all of these are some of my favorite shows.

After an unscientific scan through one of the online anime stores, I found 199 titles that are currently available that I've seen. I can think of a few I didn't find there, so I'm up over 200. I wouldn't be surprised if I sat down like some of the others here and made an accurate account, it'd be cl...

Thanks, keropi. I imagine I lurk more than I post. And yes, things are fine here. It's warm and sunny in Virginia. Well, it would be if it were daytime.

I've been collecting cels for quite a while, I guess (since 1995 or so). Funny thing is, it never was a quantity thing. Usually, a cel had to strike me somehow before I would buy it. Maybe it's not always the quality others would agree with, but it's something that pleases me. Over time, it's just b...

I'd have to go back and look, but I remember paying about $10 for this Love Hina sketch:

Next time one came up for auction, it went for over $100 (set of three was over $300).
