Re: The *JOYS* of Resales
They have cels on Amazon?! I did not know this. There's a cel I've been watching on Y!J because I've sorta grown attached to it. First they had it at 5000 yen, which is more than I can afford at the moment. Now suddenly they want 40000 yen. That doesn't make sense. If it didn't sell at the lower pri...

Re: The *JOYS* of Resales
I know your pain. I've seen people sell a cel for a certain price on Yahoo! Japan and then list it on Ebay for about 5x the price. Quite frustrating!

Re: Are you Happy....?
I deeply regret that I started collecting cels at a late date (around 2004). Because of that I probably missed out on a lot of awesome stuff, especially for Slayers and Pokemon. If something does pop up,it's usually expensive or the collector doesn't want to part with it, which is understandable. I...

Re: Are you Happy....?
If you told me today that I had to stop collecting, there would definitely be frustration. For the past year I've been a caretaker for my grandma, and it's an incredibly draining and difficult thing. I'm often too depressed, bitter or tired to think about my hobbies, and my collection has moved very...

Re: Gallery Items with most hits
My most popular cel appears to be Misty from Pokemon with 1,000 hits. The second one is from Hime-chan no Ribbon (914), which surprises me because most anime fans don't know about the show! The third is from Muppet Babies with 895 hits. Interesting!

Re: Cel Storage Options, Questions...
Sorry for jumping into this thread, but I have a question.
How do you guys store your oversize cels? Do you buy a large Itoya profolio (too expensive!)? If so, what size? Do you hang them in your closet or do you lay them flat under your bed?

Re: What is your preferred or most-used avenue for cel hunti
The cheapest one available, LOL. But seriously, 99% of the time I check what is on Yahoo!Auctions. Even with the fees, it's still cheaper than using a dealer. Dealers usually have the most ridiculous prices in my experience  They rarely update their sites, and they don't let you know when they...

Re: I feel awk now asking that.. on Rubberslug
I have contacted cel collectors in the past who have not updated their websites since around 2003 or 2006. Most of the time I never hear back, but once I heard from a collector about a year after I sent the email. It never hurts to try if you really want the cel - it may just take some time to get it.

Re: Buying to Resell
I personally do not purchase cels just so I can resell them. However, I have purchased a cel lot because I wanted one or two cels from the set. In that case I try to sell the cels I do not want, as I know they will be appreciated elsewhere. Pokemon cels are annoyingly rare, so I get very angry when ...

Re: Do you ever feel like you're the 'evil' collector?
That's a tough comment to answer. It's true that for some series there was a "glory day" when a lot of inventory came onto the market and went relatively cheaply, and a good collection could be put together on a shoestring. (But A+ stuff, even for CCS, always went high.) And it's true tha...
