Re: Fall 2017 Anime Season list

I never watched Noein. Inuyashiki is pretty good. Its opening animation is great. http://www.dailymotion.com/video/x64bote So far, it's a misanthropic anime, but that is to be expected from Hiroya Oka (the guy who gave us Gantz ). Society beats the empathy out of people, and creates self-centered, a...

Re: Hello, all.

Hi, I mostly collect cels from 1980s-90s OVAs, but I try to have a bit of everything. I really enjoy the old Streamline dubs, and I can recognize some voice actors, but I've been more interested in trying to follow directors, character designers, and creators. I built my computer as well. 8) It's a ...

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ExwqiWF2TjI I'm enjoying Garo: Vanishing Line . It's got old skool sensibilities, classic characters, and over the top designs. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ZlpvJmXZVWE Recovery of an MMO Junkie ( Net-juu no Susume ) is also pretty good for a Rom-Com. I would say t...

EVA-01 has a nice and very distinctive profile for a 'bot... also, I like the speed lines.

Re: Searching on Rinkya

That's a good idea do you know enough Japanese to know what to type, or do you use a translate function or something? Thanks! I've got JWPce (which I think can still be downloaded for free from a number of websites) to type out what I'm looking for... especially, if I know a common truncated versio...

Re: Searching on Rinkya

I just search on Yahoo Japan for the series in Japanese. You can then copy and paste the link of the auction you want into the search bar at Rinkya to bid on it. Here's the Iria link: https://auctions.yahoo.co.jp/search/search?auccat=&tab_ex=commerce&ei=utf-8&aq=-1&oq=&sc_i=&...

Re: Anime-Beta Annual Sketch Contest 2017-Winners Announced!!

Awesome! Thank you Jadeduo (Tara), Tarakatsuki (Tara), and Brandon for doing the sketch contest again. It was fun. The new categories gave me a chance to look at my collection from a different angle, and see how the art matched up to different criteria. I'm a little confused though... Did my Solitud...

Re: Current State of the Market

The move to CGI from Cels hurt, but I think it's the lack of available artwork for new shows that's really killing the hobby. I like to think that if a whole bunch of Attack On Titan , a lot of One Punch Man , and a ton of Parasyte The Maxim hit the market, new collectors would flood into buying pr...

Re: Changing Tides

Have my collecting habits changed? I don't know. Most of my collection is a result of what has been available to me throughout my years collecting, in addition to what works and artists I've known about. I've also deliberately wanted my collection to be diverse, and include different styles of anima...

Re: Belladonna of Sadness to air on TCM

The story did disappear in the second half of the film, but I thought that was all for the best. The establishment raping, stealing, and brutalizing a tired, beaten down, and dying peasantry wasn't anything new or ingenious, and the point was belabored before the devil even showed up. I think the se...

Re: Belladonna of Sadness to air on TCM

Wow... I've seen Belladonna of Sadness ... the word that comes to mind when I think of that movie is groovy. :hippy The animation is limited and a lot of the look is '60s-'70s dated pop art, but many of the individual drawings are very beautiful, especially when Jeanne is depicted as that horned pan...
