Re: Annual Cel Contest 2015!! - CHECK YOUR ENTRIES!!
I think once voting opens up you should just create a whole new thread called something like "Anime Cel Contest 2015 - VOTE NOW" with ONLY the links to the voting places and a link to this thread to keep it clean and uncomplicated. Then we can preserve this thread as-is for future use as w...

Re: Annual Cel Contest 2015!! - CHECK YOUR ENTRIES!!
Just a few observations: 1.) a lot of the cels are so differently sized compared to each other. I feel like some of the ones that show up really small may be at a disadvantage. I'm not sure why some cels are really big and some are really small. I realize sometimes you'll have a bigger cel because i...

Re: Misadventures in Cel Collecting - Share Your Horror Stories
My biggest Ooops are always just trying separate cel layers or cels from stuck sketches/douga/backgrounds etc. It usually involves bits of paint and/or trace lines being peeled off onto the paper I was trying to separate it from. I'm sure we've all been there. The worst case was recently on this Ran...

Re: To watermark or not to watermark, that is the question..
I would crop my scans, especially the registration holes and sequence numbers. (I've revealed the sequence numbers of my own cels probably no more than 2-3 times ever.) I would also often make sure the sides of cel scans were cropped to not show the edges of the paint. Background scans were often c...

Re: Something fun
So many amazing cels, but the one that really stopped me in my tracks was this one of evil Tamahome. Such a good cel:

Re: Annual Cel Contest 2015!! - NOW ACCEPTING ENTRIES!!
I'm working on trimming my collection down to 12, so I will submit soonish! But I'm glad to see my monochrome suggestion is doing well. I know I won't win it cause I sadly don't have any spectacular monochrome pieces... but I looove looking at others so yay! Also, maybe this isn't the best place to ...

Re: Annual Cel Contest 2015!! - NOW ACCEPTING ENTRIES!!
Two questions and a suggestion: Question #1: I assume we can only submit one cel per category? i.e. if I have two (or more) cels that I feel are suitable for the "Heroic" category, I can only submit one, correct? Question #2: You want the cels emailed to you directly vs. us linking to them...

To watermark or not to watermark, that is the question...
Do you watermark the scans of your cels/artwork when you post them to your gallery? Why or why not? I've never done it in the past because it's always felt a little pretentious to me (I may own the art, but I didn't create it and it feels wrong to put my name on it), and often I find watermarks dist...

Re: Mandarake big web auction
So happy to see that cel! You got such a good deal, I thought it was going to go for over 1k because of how many characters in the scene + DoCo! It's just lovely. Grats :D Me too! I thought there was no way I was going to win it. It didn't even hit my max bid. (Which, granted, wasn't much higher, b...

Re: Mandarake big web auction
Wasn't BWA but regular auction at the same time... just still stoked I won this Ranma cel. It arrived today and looks spectacular, and I was easily able to remove the stuck sketch. https://ekizo.mandarake.co.jp/auction/mypage/bidItemInfoEn.html?index=317350 And here it is in my gallery: http://justv...

Re: JustVan's Happy New Acquisitions
Excited to share this new Ranma 1/2 cel I got of Nabiki, Kasumi, Akane, girl Ranma and Shampoo from the Christmas OVA episode where they're singing one of their DoCo songs. http://justvan.rubberslug.com/gallery/inv_info.asp?ItemID=390061 Never thought I'd have a cel of all five of them together like...

Escaflowne Folken cels+douga for sale
Hey all. I won an auction on YJ the other day for a set of Folken cels. I only want to keep the A19End one, so I have four Folken cels I'm looking to rehome. They all have matching, unstuck douga. A6, A7(key), A10, A14. They are from ep. 23 about 3 mins into the episode, as Folken glances at Van and...

Re: Adventures in Restoring Faded Lines
Very nice! I did a very rudimentary version of this with a Dragonball Z cel I have, but I have a really difficult time keeping the layers lined up in my cel book. Do you have the two layers attached in any way? (Staples, tape, etc?) I am guessing that bagging the layers separately and then taping th...
