Thank you for this really pleasant detailed experience. A physician teacher told me the regular glass already reflects UV. The spanish machine maker told me that to recreate light, UV neons are not exact because some Xenon light is missing (maybe crossing with Sensei's story). As I wrote up, I'm qui...

Lucky day

Rained whole weekend over Paris, then the sun came back on Sunday at 5pm. Had a short walk close to Nation plaza for a flea market in order to seek some furnitures for coming baby's room. At a corner I falled in front of a good old NES :) That was a kid dream, 20 years ago my parents never bought it...

I had a very impressive cel of Kerberos (from Cardcaptor Sakura framed in UV-resistant glass and installed it in my office, where the sun never shines and the rain never falls, but which does have a bank of fluorescent lights. Within six months the line fading was easy to see, compared with the sca...

Thanks for the information, Iceman. I bought the Canon Canoscan LiDE 90 and it's a very good scanner- the only problem is the size of the scanner bed for oversized artwork. Because of this, I might buy a Mustek A3 at a later date. Hoever the last thing I want is a reminder to scan more artwork, it'...

Pardon my non native english, and possible construction mistakes... There are other tests under process. Datas would not be considered as valid as sample size is too small :P But I try to explore some ways and hope that this'll give ideas for further tests or inspire other people. I've an ext...

...rarity which ensures that their intrinsic value remains undiminished... ... Cels, on the other hand, are so common... If 99% of cels are damage by their own life, this will become the standard condition. IMO when this time will arrive, this'll no more be YJ, but auctions specialists as Sotheby's...

Re: Are UV rays protection the anime Loch-Ness monster ?...

Unlike a Van Gogh or Renoir masterpiece, there are quite literally millions of cels floating around - and whether you're talking about their personal value or their cash value, it will never be as high when the trace lines have faded to invisibility. They are far more susceptible to aesthetically u...

Thank you all for those precious notes. At my side I'm proceeding tests on few samples from 1960 to 2000. It of course can't represent the whole huge billions of cels used in studios, but is a singular test... I'm working in automotive industry and we have some elements such as oils or other product...

Don't know if that counts or not. But I never stopped buying from a series just because of typical line fading like on toei cels. Totally agreed. IMO if you have on your way a damn kickin' ass picture with marroon lines, take it ! Opened a poll about the recurrent "light" affair... http:/...

Are UV rays protection the anime Loch-Ness monster ?...

Well, dummy question day... Heard tons of argumentation relative to anime cel protection. In my opinion, buying a glass able to block UV to not affect lines sounds like a Q10 cream commercial with Jane Fonda. When you visit a museum there are only rare UV protections on paintings, so why would anime...

Tested various scanners in Paris chinese electronic district. MUSTEK A3 RULES (210mm x 297mm glass almost 10"x15" ). Put an option on 1200 version because 600 one is interpolating height and may occur possible distortion. This is the most competitive A3 scanner available on the market with...

Thanks. Well I certainly explore some things that have already been done before. But as I'll have to face a jury, I need to experiment to have a jury-proof vest :D UV test goal is to define a possible risk of peremption, usefull in a B2B situation (cels stucked on shop glasses) or a buying option to...

Welcome to Beta. Don't let Cloud freak you out. He's a bot, but he's got a heart of gold. :) I actually think your test data could turn out very interesting. Brand new on board, here is a small introduction... 1.
