Forgotten Anime #2, Exhibit 1 - Mizuiro Jidai [BONUS: Detective Work]

For some months now, I have on occasion mentioned an anime series, that I feel has largely been overlooked or perhaps forgotten as the years went by. The drawing style is at times a big strange. Faces in particularly sometimes come acorss as weird, but they can also be cute. The story however is eng...

Re: Finally some love for Inferius Wakusei Senshi Gaiden Condition Green

It's such a trip when anime shows have long titles like that.

Congratulations on being able to find so much of it-pieces of an obscure anime can be very difficult to find in large quantity.

Marmalade Boy, eh. Now where have I heard that title before.

:D

Re: Forgotten Anime #1 - Voogie's Angel

Ah, you do remember. I wondered if I might run into someone here who did. If I knew Obari-san had worked on the Fatal Fury movies, I'd forgotten. Having seen most of them, I can't say I'm particularly surprised. Incidently, Mai was voiced by Kotono Mitsuishi, who voiced Rebecca in Voogie's Angel . E...

Re: Forgotten Anime #1 - Voogie's Angel

I have a couple of other episodes in which I'm sure that the credit is a pseudonym for a moonlighting artist. But sadly from this vantage point I can't determine who might actually be involved. I suppose I have to do what I can to preserve the sketches (some are really very good) and expect the nex...

Re: Forgotten Anime #1 - Voogie's Angel

An interesting review of what is likely to remain for most of us an obscure series -- and yet as you point out, there is art and fun in it. It would be interesting to get Aya Hisakawa's perspective on doing short series like these. I'm sure voice actors don't get paid much, though probably more tha...

Forgotten Anime #1 - Voogie's Angel

I mentioned in the threads about the unidentified girl, later identified as Hime Utsumiya of Brain Power[e]d, that I misunderstood the auction title. At first, I thought I was getting two characters from the same title. Now, I should have known they weren't from the same series because the styles ar...

Re: Note by J.C.Staff animator needs translating

That's one heck of a catch. It takes years of experience and a very sharp eye to keep up with all of that.

Excellent reanimation, BTW. There is just SO much work in all of this, you can really see it.

Re: Note by J.C.Staff animator needs translating

Thank you, Pixel. I've reanimated the color tests and think I can see what issue is being flagged here: there is one place where Kotomi's hair sticks out in an unlikely way as she turns her head. I'll have to look at the final animation and see if that got fixed in the final footage. Wow, that's pr...

Re: Note by J.C.Staff animator needs translating

I looked at the note last night, but bad weather threatened the power and I had to log off. Indeed, the power is off right now. I'm posting from my less than stellar cell phone. The only thing our power company is proficient at is billing. I got the uchi part right, and I thought the first line was ...

Re: The Paradox of Anime Art Collecting

The last 'recent' Madhouse artwork I purchased were the backgrounds from Kobato back in 2012. A good portion of those were bent to fit into a circular waste bin. My guess is that, based on that, you would have the best chance at getting artwork during its initial run or shortly thereafter. I though...

Re: One Piece Original Artwork

Welcome back.

Congratulations on the shikishi! I'm not overly familiar with One Piece, but from what I have seen this is fantastic!

A one of a kind piece (if you will excuse the pun), and for a good cause. Bravo!

Re: Single Cels or Sequences

While I would typically prefer a single cel of good quality and particular significance (i.e. an especially moving or important scene for one or more characters), I can see the appeal of owning a complete sequence. I guess it depends really on what it is and what exactly is available, for what price...

Re: The Paradox of Anime Art Collecting

Indeed, there are many sources of mistreatment of these materials. Sometimes studios are at fault, sometimes are the later owners. Frankly, I myself don't do the best job I know. I have found myself wondering many times whether I should really be talking about how anyone else has handled my own piec...

The Paradox of Anime Art Collecting

I was commenting in a PM to Sensei the other day that J.C Staff seemed to be cool with all the old sketches floating around. What I was trying to say that I was glad that their policies regarding older production materials were such that their seems to be a rather healthy trade in sketches from thei...
