Re: Is Shopping Mall Japan dead?

I agree that SMJ saved money by having the items shipped in bulk to a US storage unit and then sent using domestic postage to the buyer. On the other hand Rinkya packs its items to survive a nuclear holocaust, while SMJ from time to time was rather incautious about shipping items, especially oversi...

Re: Collection walk-through! A video of myself going through my entire collection!

I now seriously fear how long any video featuring my collection would be. I don't ever think I've talked for an hour straight before. I don't think anyone would want to hear me speak for even half that long. Ah, another person with Kodomo no Jikan artwork. You have discerning tastes, my good sir. I ...

Re: 2019 Year in Review & 2020 Cel/Sketch Resolutions

I can't believe that this thread has gone on for as long as it has. I also can't believe that some of us are still collecting. Am I the only one that enjoys reading the Resolution threads of years past? ...yes...I know I'm a dork...totally realized that long ago :cheers 1. What was the best thing th...

Re: Is Shopping Mall Japan dead?

Not sure that I really want to go back to Buyee. I used them for a while and while their packaging is very good, their fees, particularly the storage fees for anything over 30 days old, are horrible. Guess that means I'll be buying less on YJ, though not like I was buying anywhere near the quantity ...

Re: What bothers you about this hobby?

Something that is completely avoidable that bothers us is watching the largest cel community resource Rubberslug rot internally due to negligence, and by extension, the cel community die a slow and painful death is most disheartening. Wow, cheers to you too... I am glad that I wasn't the only one t...

Re: Thinking about Trying YJ/Buyee

Shipping or auction fees? Wasn't aware of shipping differences, just thought they charge whatever EMS wants or w/e your shipping service is. Every deputy charges a commission, whether it's through an established commission fee or by adding fees on to your shipping total, storage fees, etc. They're ...

Re: Thinking about Trying YJ/Buyee

None of the companies that ask for a deposit are out to fleece the deposit from you. I've used SMJ for well over a decade. Buyee charges quite a hefty premium for their shipping. SMJ doesn't charge as much. IMO, you're going to pay one way or another. Either you put the deposit up front (that you ca...

Re: What bothers you about this hobby?

^ Misty and Brock return for a couple episodes in the Alolan episodes. Oak and Jigglypuff (with its marker of doom) also tag along. The purpose of the episodes was to highlight the difference between the Alolan versions of Pokémon like Vulpix, but if you're a fan of the mega evolutions from the X/Y ...

Re: Arson Murderer torches Kyoto Animation Studio: at least 33 die

Mental health is important and is something that is sadly neglected in many first world nations. I would like to hope that tragedies like this one will bring more awareness to the issue in Japan as well as elsewhere in the world. I am sorry to hear that so many people were injured or died from the a...

Re: New CCS Manga

Am I the only one on the board still reading this...?

Manga is suuuper slow. It felt like the first 20 chapters were just setting things up.

I do love that the Clow Card spirits are back. I missed Light and Dark. And I love that they're fujoshi.

Re: Past and Upcoming Anime Seasons

I've been having a hard time finding anything I really want to watch. It's one of those "I have all these channels and there's nothing on" paradoxes that Crunchy subscriptions provides. I did finish the first season of "Promised Neverland". I've been an avid reader of this manga ...

Re: Dragonball Z Terebikko Cel

Sailor Moon had their own version of these games, and I have a cel used in the making of the game. It also took me a long while to identify it because the source was just so obscure.

I really like your Goku cel. It looks like it's in great shape for its age.

Re: Cardcaptor Sakura bank cels

I'm happy to see someone so exuberant about collecting, but I recommend easing into this hobby instead of racing after all the great stuff out there. I'm saying this out of experience, not only mine, but that of others. It's easy to charge into this hobby at full force and buy all the stuff out ther...

Re: What are Settei Sheets? Are they worth buying?

My understanding of this is that Settei and model sheets are Xerox copies of final concepts that animators and staff get to review when creating the final product. That being said- i am confused by why they appear as expensive? The majority of settei are photocopies. Some of these photocopies were ...
