Re: Where is a good source of cel storage bags?

Yes, I believe Heiko either went out of business or just stopped producing cel bags. Someone on here suggested BCW Treasury Comic Book Bags off of Amazon which 100 come in a pack. They fit most standard sized cels and backgrounds. I have bought them 8 times now and hard to beat the price! Currently ...

Re: Anyone else currently in this situation?

I got two things from Japan sitting since the end of March. One was returned to seller and he resent, but it’s stuck in limbo. The other sitting at post office still not shipped yet. Same here I have a package sitting in Japan Post since 3/23/20. But that's good news there are packages pushing thro...

Re: Anime Art Bargains

This still blows my mind today and was a dream come true for a collector. I won a huge box of sketch sets from a series I heavily collect from for only $30! There were well over a hundred sets and thousands of sketches. The series is Nazca and the auction itself did not show much, only a top view of...

Re: Is Shopping Mall Japan dead?

Thanks sensei! I pressed them further and Vanessa was still giving me the run around with the same answer. She has been pretty passive with issues in the past as well. I kept at it and another guy Scott responded and gave me back full access to bidding!

Re: Is Shopping Mall Japan dead?

I opened a ticket today like you suggested and in the response they are saying they are still closed lol. Here is the reply I got through Rinkya below: With the landlord’s accident, we needed to move immediately and while we are moving warehouses we have turned off the bidding. We know this is frust...

Re: Is Shopping Mall Japan dead?

Rinkya's been up and running for a month or so. I've been able to log in and search but unfortunately, their fees are ridiculous. I used the commission calculator and for a cel that was 5,000 yen it would cost $30 US just to get it to Rinkya's warehouse (fees/wire transfer/shipping) That is too muc...

Loved the video and your collection. Haha I am not going to lie after watching I found out I have been mispronouncing some general terms like genga, hanken and even mandarake! Will be subscribing and maybe catch you on twitch. Cheers to your new venture.

I have been having the same issue for several days. It just stalls out now, but it did say something like data was full.

This is such a bummer to hear. SMJ is my deputy of choice and I have always had great service there. I also emailed him and yes they are closing for good.

Re: Vinegar syndrome & cel is partially stuck to background - what to do?

Definitely scan it now to at least save it as a memento. Once the vinegar syndrome starts it moves pretty rapidly from my experience and usually completely destroys the cel within a year. I think what complicates your cel is it is also stuck to the background. I haven't tried freezing, but it would ...

Re: Vinegar syndrome & cel is partially stuck to background - what to do?

In my experience once it starts there is no turning back and they will get worse to the point where you will eventually have to toss them. Definitely isolate them from your other pieces as it can infect them as well. Good luck, but I say cut your losses and get rid of it. I have been collecting clos...

Re: WTB: Bebop and Evangelion

Animelink posted new Evangelion cels for sale recently. Mandrake consistently has auctions up with Eva and Bebop cels. I will tell you this they are both one of the more expensive series to collect outside of Ghibli/Disney. Evangelion has ALWAYS been notoriously expensive because the studio delibera...

Re: Shikishi and Original Artwork

Unfortunately you missed the boat on a lot of that. Original artwork from Kanno was prevalent in the early to mid 2000s. I still see pieces here and there, but they are few and far between (and more expensive). It is different for each collector on an ultimate piece to have, but I consider his illus...

Re: Thinking about Trying YJ/Buyee

SMJ does not typically store won auction items in Japan like some others, rather they ship them to the US for storage here. Is that correct? Prior to the last few months, I would have said that if the item isn't heavy, like manga or larger items, it'll be sent to the US and you can request batch sh...

Re: Bill submitted in Japan to stop sale and export of Anime art

Umm aren't they a little too late on this bill as cels pretty much phased out 2 decades ago? I doubt this bill will pass as noted they are trying to also get out of the copyright laws, it will cost a lot of money, and other museums are already displaying/preserving production art there.
