Brony Conventions- World of Weird

This week I watched a TV programme called 'World Of Weird' which focus on some odd events/people/customs etc from around the globe. Alongside the dwarf matadors from Columbia and 'hire a friend/relative' in Japan stories, they featured the Brony Con held in Baltimore, USA. I didn't know about this, ...

Re: How do you like to keep track of your purchases?

OK, Keropi, my mistake, I see what you're saying. It is annoying to have pencil smears and that could only be worse with a soft pencil. I guess soft pencils are used more often too because they give a darker/broarder tone.

Re: My Collection

Hi Under9000 and good work on setting up your RS gallery. I particularly liked the Mr Buu cel with him clutching the round lolly *yum*.
Good luck with your collection, hope you grab some amazing pieces.

Re: My Fatal Fury Gallery

Comprehensive collection there, LWK- nice work. I like your dedication to just one anime, that must take a lot of restraint in itself. I've voted on your site too so I hope you get a rating soon. I liked the colour settei, it's nice to have something like that in a collection because it's rare memor...

Re: How do you like to keep track of your purchases?

My earliest sheets were in pencil, but after seeing how hard it became to read my earlier pencil writing papers I wrote everything in pen. Pen markings last a lot longer than pencil. Pencil marks only smear over time (even if it takes years and years to become noticeable) I believed that pencil was...

Re: The Choices, the Choices

Hmmm, I like to buy art from series I've seen and sometimes ones HAVEN'T seen too. It's dependant on the image. If the character/setup/pose/colouring attracts me I might want it for aesthetics' sake and I'm happy with that- even if other collectors may believe that's wrong. Such series include Black...

Re: Annual Cel Contest 2015!! - A Tentative Start!!

Cheers, Jadeduo, the schedule looks good, it's good to have several weeks for submissions, this gives time to locate the art/scan etc and gives some leighway to those who have commitments throughout the month. I'd enter the Fan cel category if you want to keep it alive. I have 5 fan cels I could cho...

Re: Annual Cel Contest 2015!! - A Tentative Start!!

I think there are so many categories that the optional ones could be discounted. I think that of a few others too but don't want to step on any toes because they might prove to be someone's favourite. I do like the 'Muscles' category because it's generic enough to encourage a LOT of different anime....

Re: What experiences have effected your collecting?

Nice one, JWR, I'm sure people have all sorts of responses to share. For me, a number of experiences in particular effected my collecting so I'll mention a few that spring to mind; 1) Love of the anime itself. When I adore a form of art I like to own a piece of it, whether it's a film, poster, drawi...

Re: What has happened to this cel?

Regarding a 2-layer (stuck) cel, the curl happens when the paint of one layer (which has the greater painted surface) expands a little over time. I remember a bit about this process from Chemistry lessons at school with bimetallic strips, perhaps copper and zinc. Since both metals have different mel...

Re: Annual Cel Contest 2015!! - A Tentative Start!!

All exciting stuff! I'd be happy to contribute to the submissions this year now that I'm semi-back. As one of my favourite categories is Hentai, I'd like that to remain but I understand that there might be less pervs here to make up a suitable amount of submissions, lol. Can I enter two? j/k Best of...

Re: What's your "Holy Grail" cel/sketch/whatever

Everyone has some great images to show off. Frozentime, I like your VPM drawings as I remember these drawings from the merchandise they were used for. It's nostalgic for me too because I saw that little OAV on video back in Manga's heyday. I had to look back at my response to this topic from January...

Re: To Know or Not to Know

...for about 15 years I would get offers for a comic piece from a dealer once every couple of months who would not take no for an answer. Never happen but one would be tempted to say one would rather burn the piece then ever let them have it after the constant bugging. :D LOL, I can see how you'd r...

Re: Proxy Bidding Services

As a UK buyer too, I've used all three of the deputy services that Majinuub mentioned. I prefer SMJ because they usually give a couple more days to pay what's owed, Rinkya are strict on prompt payment, often within 24 hours of the auction ending. In each case, it's best to compare the commission rat...

Re: Summer 2015 Anime List

Madhouse has posted some animations of their production sketches (from the currently airing "Overlord" anime series): http://www.madhouse.co.jp/special/overlord/index.html Nice, I love seeing animated sketches so thanks for the link, Keropi. I used to love the Madhouse studio throughout t...
