Re: Greetings from a french collector :D

Congratulations! Having a nice piece of animation art is a joy, but it is finer still when you have so firm a provenance and can firmly attribute a sketch to an eminent artist like Nobuteru Yuki.

Re: Greetings from a french collector :D

Concerning the previous discussion of paper-based vs. tablet-based animation work, I recently found this interesting article online that discusses the Japanese animation situation in some detail: Animators need to balance quickly and well, interview with Hirofumi Morimoto of 'Sorcerous Stabber Orphe...

Re: Sketch that was stored with a vinegar syndrome cel?

The acid produced by the VS may impact the paper and yellow it. But the Microchamber paper should take care of that. Yes, let it air out thoroughly and store paper separately from plastic.

Re: Greetings from a french collector :D

Thank you for the links and further insights, Benoit. Your collection is a vivid one and worth browsing in. Like you, though, I found myself drawn to the original backgrounds, which are themselves often interesting and moody artworks in their own rights. I've certainly moved strongly from cel-based ...

Re: Spam messages

Calling attention once more to this thread, which members should read through, as we have had a few spammers slip through our security measures. Briefly: Do not click on any links in a message that does not deal with collecting animation art, no matter how bodacious you've heard that Ukrainian babes...

Re: Still working on my Gallery.

You are certainly welcome, SM. It's good to see someone building an interesting collection based on a good eye for art and a healthy interest in the human artists responsible for it. The seller's assessment of the sketches' provenance counts for a lot, and I've found this information to be usually (...

Re: Good places to find "miscellaneous" or "unknown" cels?

Takamura Store https://www.takamura-store.com/v3/en/ is a good hunting ground. They have a large range of "nostalgic" series (i.e., from the 1980s) and among the slots are three "Miscellaneous" categories: Miscellaneous Nostalgic, Miscellaneous Known, and Miscellaneous Unknown. I...

Re: Still working on my Gallery.

Sorry to be slow in responding, SM. I've really availed myself of a lot of help from my fellows in constructing and maintaining my gallery, and so I can see why you're anxious to start getting feedback. I didn't look through all of the galleries, but I did look at those for series that I know as wel...

Re: Rubberslug Feedback Messaging..

I get RS feedback messages but they are nearly all spam, so my email is set up to send them all directly to a trash folder. I do open them to check before I empty the trash, but obviously much less often than mail that clears the spam trap and goes into my inbox.

Re: [Advice] Dents

Might try gently rubbing the inside of the cover with a bone folder or similar tool. These are used to reduce paper creases such as dog ears and can encourage the paper fibers to go back to the way they were before they were stressed. The trick is to rub the side opposite the crease, fold, or dent.

Re: Storing an enormous panoramic cel

I'd think that if it were rated archival that it would be fine. You don't want to use a plastic "keepsakes" box (Michael's etc.)
