Re: Storing an enormous panoramic cel

I have a panoramic cel (with matching gengas) from the Nakamura anime film A Tree of Palme . It's just a very detailed view of a "kooloop" tree , one of the strange alien species that the director created for the surreal world in which the adventure takes place The complete set-up measures...

Re: Clear bags

I'm in the market for some new cel bags too, thanks for the info! Just curious, all of those bags says there's a resealable flap and the tape is on the body of the bag, what is that anyway? Yeah, the BagsUnlimited variety (w=10 7/8 in.) are made of two layers of plastic (I get polypro). The top lay...

Re: Strange feedback from rubberslug

Yeah, the market is tight, but there are still some things worth waiting for, mostly sketch art than cels. Still, I have a pretty Magic Knight Rayearth item in Rinkya's warehouse that should go up next month with a little shout of joy. Happy birthday, by the way! http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v7...

Re: Zenmarket issues/good deputy that ships fast?

Rinkya, for the record, has always been reliable but slowish to pack and comparatively expensive. Lately, the rates have become comparatively more in line with others and the shipping is now wicked fast. They also pack very securely, to the extent that opening a Rinkya box is an adventure in itself,...

Re: Strange feedback from rubberslug

It's spam. Unfortunately, the RS mail function is not protected, and so for years I've gotten unwanted mail from this quarter, including offers for unlimited supplies of counterfeit Cialis and photos of bodacious Ukrainian babes (holding pieces of Hillary's server in their bare hands). All of this g...

Re: Is 2021 finally the year I digitize my collection?

I have a few items that slipped out of the usual scanning order and still need to be done. But I don't regret the time that I've taken to image, describe, and inventory my collection. It is a daunting task, but taken a little at a time as a collection grows, it becomes easier and more and more useful....

Re: Question about storyboards

Storyboards usually are photocopies. They are normally reduced somewhat from original size, printed front-and-back (duplex) and stapled at the top or down one margin. Then they are provided to the studio staff working on a given episode for general reference. Sometimes they come with holograph annot...

Re: Questioning Authenticity

I do have sketches (especially dougas) that had cups of coffee spilled on them. Knowing how cel painters worked (they were paid by the number of cels painted, not by the hour, and at the very bottom of the pay scale, just above inbetweeners or douga artists) it's not unusual to see this kind of abus...

Re: Questioning Authenticity

I don't know this series so my opinion is just based on other dougas and gengas I've seen from Toei. There have been times when I've seen notations like "under suit" on Toei dougas, usually when a checker has spotted an error in the cel painting. This might indicate that the painter did no...

Re: Haii~

Sorry to be late: life is an importunate bastard. Welcome to Beta. I've collected Inuyasha too, mostly sketchwork but a few precious cels, and also picked up a few of the increasingly scarce Wolf's Rain sketches from the market. Still, it's a great opportunity, with excellent art still around for mu...

Re: Is there much difference between PP and OPP for cel storage?

I agree with the "crystal clear" aspect of the BPP bags, which makes the cels more viewable, and I also agree that their thinnness also makes them more prone to pucker than PP. That's an issue with two sides, though: I find premature bag puckering to be a warning sign that the cel is becom...

Re: Is there much difference between PP and OPP for cel storage?

Most archival sources stock either polyprophylene (PP) or polyethylene (BOPP). Either is fine for cel storage. I don't recall seeing OPP (oriented polyprophylene) sold as such. It's probably OK also. Archival polyester (PET or Mylar) is also an option but it has the bad side-effect of storing static...
