Re: Real deal or...

It's really a combination of a lot of different things. I think one of the best ways that I use to combat fakes is knowledge of the art from the series. Some things I consider: -- What studio animated it? Does that studio release (or not release) sketches or trim backgrounds or otherwise have someth...

Re: Just venting, shipping frustrations

DAAAAYUM....... And the book was still inside? I'm in shock. 8O I'm now waiting on my package from my deputy and really hoping it arrives before I go to Hawaii on Friday. Otherwise, I'll have to have my husband check the contents when it arrives. Mind you, that would have a certain level of amusemen...

Re: Just venting, shipping frustrations

Ack! I hear you!! I hate hate hate HATE shipping in December. I had a package shipped in plenty of time to arrive long before I had to leave the state for my in laws'..... The "three day shipping" turned into almost two weeks. It sat and went nowhere for six days in one spot and three in a...

Re: How to store cels?

I adore Itoya portfolios and the company also recently came out with new sizes. (I have wanted a 16x20 size for SO SO SO long it's not funny. Now they have one! ^_^) I'm lucky that I have an art store near me which orders in whichever sizes I want. You can see what exists here: http://www.itoya.com/...

Re: How do you determine the price of a cel?

You've gotten some great answers here from Cutie and Kizu. Remember that it really does break down to how much the other person WANTS to sell. Kizu's point about a private collector not wanting to sell things unless it's for an obscene amount can be very valid. My standard statement is that "it...

Re: Ever get outbid by the person selling something?

At least I know where it is!! *^_^* Promise me that if you ever decide to lose your mind and sell, you'll find my email. ^_~~~ That had to have just been you and me to the end. (*sweatdrop*) This week I just won the one that was my biggie for this round, the winged Hazel. :D Hope you got whichever o...

Re: Ever get outbid by the person selling something?

No! That one didn't go to me, but I was definitely eyeing it and I lost the link so I didn't get to see the final bid on it. Tell me, did you get the Goku with bird one from a several weeks ago? I hope so, because then I can see it. I was trying desperately to bid on that one during church (on my iP...

Re: Ever get outbid by the person selling something?

Drac are you sure it's not me? ^_~ Sounds like we've been running into each other on the Saiyuki lots lately... Right now I've been working through my Loveless backlog, Saiyuki will be next... And the backlog on that is pretty epic... :emb Most of the sets I have been bidding on have been Goku and ...

Re: Do you keep Complete Sets?

I'm able to cut down fire hazard and silverfish bait. Hahahahaha!!!!! ^_^ I have to say, I have a few sets where I've really considered this. One that has a HUUUUGE number of sheets of a small object flying through the air and one that has an equally if not a higher sheet count of falling rain. (Am...

Re: Ever get outbid by the person selling something?

I've been bidding on the Saiyuki sets too from this seller and a couple times I've run into an ID that seems to be bidding suspiciously. As if to just walk up my bid, but not to try to win. I've been trying to watch the ID since...

Re: Do you keep Complete Sets?

The only time I don't keep everything that comes to me is if I sell some of it. I'm not incredibly into douga, so I occasionally sell off the douga half of sets that come with douga. That said, I keep all else and scan a large portion of it too! (Though this sometimes depends on my level of energy a...

Re: thoughts on prices in a weak economy??

I agree it depends on what you collect and it also depends on WHAT you collected, even within amazingly popular series. This is where it being "worth" whatever someone is willing to pay for it comes into play. Some series, Sailor Moon being an excellent example, just seem undying. But that...

Re: thoughts on prices in a weak economy??

You deal with it by accepting the facts. The facts are it doesn't matter in the slightest what you paid for something. It is tough to hear it, but no one cares. Collectibles are NOT investments. When you're talking about something that is a "collectible" (and I do classify cels/genga in th...

For what it's worth, I think you made the right choice. I'm sure the incorrect submission was just an oversight... These things happen.
