Without much real research done I was just going to mention as Yuuki has, that the backgrounds are created using gouache paints (at least every background I have is). Gouache is an excellent medium for all the qualities mentioned in the original quote =)

By "machine-like" do you mean physically created by a machine ie. a photo copy or the asthetic of the drawing ie. traced, methodical /not free styled sketch work?

I've never heard of any genga, corrections or douga being created by machine, unless it's a copy.

I use them quite often. They're great and my purchases have been undoubtably legit items.

I think the risk of losing a parcel is very small really. unless the address is illegible, not waterproof, or no sender address included. You can't do much if its stolen though. Does tracking help if the parcel is actually stolen? I thought insurance would be the only way to truley safe guard yourse...
