Re: Why do some colors show up wrong on scanners?

From what I remember it has to do with the sensor inside the scanners. A lot of people experience scanners not being able to capture bright colors like pink or neons correctly. I don't know the technical reasons why but it's pretty common. Sailor moon cels experience this a lot for example. My guess...

Re: Is there much difference between PP and OPP for cel storage?

I've been using BOPP/OPP bags for at least a year and so far so good. The bags I bought were listed as "Acid and lignin free" and "Archival safe" so I was pretty confident they were safe for my cels/sketches. I believe the point of OPP or BOPP is that the way the plastic is made/...

Re: Storing Cels flat vs binder?

I don't think you need to put any weights on them. I believe I saw a Disney archive video where they stored their cels, background etc art laying flat on shelves/drawers? You don't have many pieces and if you have the space I think what you are doing is great. The other thing to watch out for is if ...

Re: Where can I get these kind of bag?

Hi, these can be made from any regular cel bag. You can see this wiki page that me and some collectors in the community have been working on for information about cel bags and some links for where to buy. Link: https://wiki.cartoonedin.com/books/preservation-and-conservation/page/cel-bags The most p...

Re: Mandarake Correction Compilation?

Cutiebunny, you are absolutely right. When they are real, correction sheets are very collectible for the reasons you stated. I am still not convinced that the "correction compilations" on Mandarake are not copies though. When you do a general search for closed auctions on Mandy for "c...

Re: Mandarake Correction Compilation?

I'm not an expert on any of this but they look like copies to me. For the Madoka ones specifically they look to be 4 scans on one sheet too so it's not even full size for each image. Madoka Magica art is in high demand but some of these ending prices are truly ridiculous. This Made in Abyss correcti...

I'm sorry you had to go through this. It's every collectors worst nightmare :O I actually started airing out my cels recently too. I was wondering if you took any photos of the vinegar syndrome cels ?

Re: Getting Rid of all Plastic/Poly bags for Cels?

I see you've done a lot of research yourself then. Yeah, I have a couple of expensive cels and then a whole bunch of cheaper ones. I worry the same about the expensive ones. I found this Disney Storage Vault video if you're interested: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EWFH2ggAMvo Around the 50 second...

Re: Getting Rid of all Plastic/Poly bags for Cels?

I've seen a couple people in the cel collecting community bring this up recently. Storing cels in bags with some sort of opening left in the bag seems to have been the standard since I started collecting over 10 years ago. I guess it's because this method is the cheapest and most accessible to the a...

Re: Itoya multi-ring binders?

I have a few of the Itoya 11x14 (regular not landscape) multi ring binders. They cost more than the regular portfolios but the quality is very nice. The outside covers are very thick plastic and stand up well. Your cels will feel very protected in them. I also find the clear pages are more crystal c...

Re: Where is a good source of cel storage bags?

I've been buying bags from a company called Clearbags. I prefer them over the BCW bags because the BCW has a slight cloudiness to them that is especially noticeable if you are bagging a multi layer cel setup but the ClearBags are crystal clear. 10 x 13: https://www.clearbags.com/10-x-13-flap-crystal...

Re: Guide to scan color accurate cel

This is actually really useful to know. Can I ask where you bought your IT8 target from ? I am interested in doing this before I start scanning the bulk of my collection. I found this site (http://www.targets.coloraid.de/) but they are unable to ship overseas at the moment.
