Yes, that is the auction I'm referring to. Slayers cel collectors are few but dedicated.
As for the appeal of the character, well.. he's one of the more memorable baddies, imo. What he accomplished, or didn't accomplish, made for a very exciting finale for season two.

Okay, the first cel that popped up went for 44,444 yen. I thought this was cute, since the number 4 is associated with death in Japan, and, yeah, that's a cel of the death god from Slayers. So obviously someone was having fun there. Well a new cel popped up of him, and the current bid is 123,456 yen...
