I've been getting quite a few errors over the past week or two. It seems like every few pages I visit result in an error. It's resolved by reloading the page, but annoying.

Welcome! Despite the fact that my collecting mainly focuses on cartoons from the US, I'm a big fan of many anime series'... and GitS SAC is probably one of my top three favorites.

Looking at their auctions, I see no reason to think they are fake. I've considered buying from that seller before but never have. Can you describe a little more about what you mean by "etched"? Some close-up pictures of the cels (front and back) might also be good if you want help identify...

I use a Mustek large format scanner. Very high DPI and quality. It can scan a standard size cel with full background in one swipe and then some. It accommodates large items very well, but would still need 2 passes for huge items. The handheld scanner only goes to 900 DPI where the Mustek goes to 24...
