Ok so apparently I can't post in the Buyer Beware area, so hopefully it is alright to post my suspicions here.

I am 99.99999% positive that French cel collector and distributor Olivier Gilbert is attempting to sell more cels on ebay, with yet another user ID. All those of you who have had dealings with him should know that you eitherhave a flawless, happy transaction or a complete nightmare. I don't mean to spread rumors or dredge up bad memories but I swore that if I could warn people about his past record, I would; no question. So please understand.

Please beware of this seller. If you bid on his things, you are taking a big risk!!

Does his cels just not arrive? Is it because they are lost during shipping? Because on things I send to europe I lose like 5% of the packages to people just saying they never recieved it!

Classic case of paying for something and not receiving what you paid for. Took over a year to put the whole thing behind me. There have been others who have been screwed worse than me. If you search for his name, you'd probably find some of our old posts, if they still exist. I really don't care to get into the details again. Just be aware of the possible risk with dealing with him; that's all.

He also has a rubberslug gallery.

He was selling some AMG cels one time privately, and when I agreed to buy one, he wanted me to send the funds via a bank transfer to Japan (when he lives in France - what's up with that?), so I turned it down because that just sounded fishy.

Then he gave me a spill about "You're the worst buyer/collector ever, and I will warn EVERYONE about you!" I was like "What? o_O?"

Crap. I just realized I was bidding on two sketches of his. ._. Darnit. Well, if I don't recieve them within 2 weeks I can always claim it. Has anyone had problems with his claims?

Good luck on those auctions. But definitely don't let a month go by without making a claim. You won't see anything if you just play it "nice".

I think paypal increased the duration for claims. You no longer have to do it
within 30 days of the purchase date. I believe it is 45 days now.
Don't quote me on that, but it's worth looking into.

Hope he doesn't give you trouble, but it seems like he will. I hate scam artists. :x

I purchased an X/1999 cel from him in the past. The cel came COMPLETELY UNPROTECTED in a flimsy postal envelope. It was bent in a few places. I was very upset.

I debated for a while whether to post in this thread or not. Let me just say that I don't know if dfery is Olivier Gilbert or not. I know that there is another cel collector named Olivier who is not the same person. While I don't want to hurt an innocent ebay seller, I also do not want to see another cel collector ripped off. Here is what happened to me, but PLEASE remember there is still a chance it is not the same person.

I bought and paid for a cel from Olivier Gilbert's online cel shop in October 28, 2002. For two months he kept putting me off with different exuses about when he was going to send me the cel. Finally, he then sent me a cel (via another cel dealer = dealer X) in early January 2003. It turned out to be the wrong cel. I sent it back to dealer X. While talking about this with the dealer X, I found out what had happened. It turns out that Olivier had given dealer X a bunch of cels to sell for him. My previously paid for cel was among them. Dealer X told me he had already sold my cel in December 2002. When I emailed Olivier Gilbert about what had happened and to demand my money back, I was ignored. I eventually reported him for fraud to paypal late February 2003 and to the IFCC on March 4, 2003. Needless to say, I have never gotten my money back. He has had a few different ebay IDs but I think he was eventually banned from ebay and paypal after they received enough complaints.

BTW sorry not to name dealer X. He is still around and I consider him a very honest and reliable cel dealer. I don't want to say anything negative about him. He just happened to have the bad luck of getting stuck in the middle of this.

Rei would know if Oliver Gilbert used that id in the past or not. I can testify to her asking for a couple cel collectors' opinions about her bent X cel earlier this year, and you can see her feedback on dfery's account. At the very least, she can tell you whether it was Oliver Gilbert that she worked with a few months ago.

I'm sorry. I misunderstood and didn't realize "past" meant recent past. I assumed she was refering to a few years ago when he ripped off a bunch of people in a relatively short period of time. That is very good to know.

I can't say that I know 100% that this seller is Oliver Gilbert, however there are several signs that had me suspicious:

--Series Selection: Samurai Troopers, mostly Saint Seiya, some DBZ and some "original" artwork and sketches.

--This is the actual cel that he mistakenly sent to me and I returned to him The other Samurai Troopers cels he once had on his web page and never sold. The one cel of Ryo crying I actually asked him to send to me for his mistake, but he never did.

--Poor Packaging, that seems pretty consistent with both Olivier and this new user, huh, Brenda? -_-;

I don't mean to stir up trouble or to spread false stories about someone but I thought people should know the risk if it is him trying to make a buck again. Just be careful.

I received my Larva cel in a ziploc bag...that was still too small for it, so it stuck out quite a bit and was slightly warped when I got it. Gotta love people who sell cels and yet don't ever seem to have proper cel bags for them.

Does it ever make you want to just try to buy all of his cels from him just to save them from his wrath? :( Poor cels!!!
