I have to agree with the previous posters who considered these cels to be fake. The cel is labeled A1, yet the colors and the lines look disoriented. Also the BG's are unmatching. I'm not sure, but aren't cels stapled to BG's only if they're matching or at least close to the scene it's from?
The Vegeta cel is easier to label a fancel.
I think the seller went all out on these cels.
Isnt this a fan cel? DBZ

I did a little searchin' online. This screencapture is from the episode "Vegeta's Respect." It appears to be from the same sequence as the cel in question:
Screencapture:

Cel:

I dunno, it's close enough that I'm inclined to believe it's probably just the seller's scanner that's causing the weird shift in color.
Anyway, I should probably stop procrastinating and get back to cleaning the house now...bleh.

Hey thanks, hyelakingsfan! I was pretty stoked to find it.
I'm not sure if I agree with you though. If you take into account cropping, I think that the lines are pretty much spot on. Any slight differences in shadows (tip of his ear for instance) may be due to the screencap being taken from later in the sequence.
Ok, this time I'm REALLY going to get back to cleaning...really...

Alright, final comment on this cel, only because I don't think I can say anything else.
If the completely incorrect color scheme doesn't prove it is a fancel (as some scanners do scan with a variation in hues that can give a picture a different value to their true colors). Or the odd way it is stapled, almost always a single or dual staple job. Or the fact that the other cels listed look as worse if not more obvious than this one. Then the second most prevalent thing I notice is the lines.
While I do agree that the lines are pretty much on target, as you mentioned early Megan, they do not show confidence 99% of any cel done by any animator would. They are slightly wavy, too bold in one area, just no consistent throughout the cel. Not only that, but the cel is missing the deeper shadow within his ear, which should always be there no matter what screen shot it was from that sequence.
Well hopefully anyone else reading this thread has had a nice variety of opinions to read through and come to their own conclusions. I also thank Megan for getting that screen shot for a comparison. Who knew such a vivid discussion would come out of this one cel?

This discussion has been very interesting to watch.
Has anyone emailed the owner about it being a 'fan cel'.
Thanks also again Megan for the screen shot

No worries. Glad to help!
Personally, at his point I'm extremely comfortable saying the cel is in fact a production cel. Line weirdness is easily explained by scanner settings, altering an image size in Photoshop can also cause weird lines in cels, even fiddling with "contrast" or "replace color" will very easily produce jagged line results.
I'm very confident saying that line weirdness in the scan isn't due to the fact it was created by a fan artist. If the artist couldn't draw a straight line, they wouldn't have been able to actually capture the the character so well.
So, at least this collector is confident in the fact this is a production cel. That's my vote anywho.
