While I've had mixes sales results, I'd still say that eBay is excellent for a few reasons. It's a lot easier on your brain, than trying to hold an offer period. Basically: throw it on eBay and whoever wins gets the cel - period. It also offers your item to a wider variety of people (especially if you offer international shipping).
You just need to advertise your sale on Anime-Beta and the JACML to get the right coverage for the sale. If you don't advertise, people will not be likely to see your auctions, and thus they will not sell for as much.
But I do agree with DT: many people seem to have this elitist attitude against eBay that I don't fully understand...
Do cels sell on Ebay?

I've been hoping to sell items in the Rubberslug shop so I can avoid eBay/paypal fees and post how much I would be willing to sell my items. I made a donation to the site a while back mainly for this reason but the community shop link is still not available for me to use in my account settings.
I wish that whoever is in charge of it would update the link to my account already.

Ebay can be a curse and can be a blessing!
I have found such deals that make one go
I have also sold there well below prices that I expected
So the bottom line is, you just risk it! And you hope it all goes well!
I have had more luck in Beta than on ebay....
I'm selling something on ebay right now, and I've had emails about selling the item to the person directly....But I already paid the dam fees, so yeah.....

i agree with all of the responses, but here is my 2-cents anyways... i have always had trouble selling on ebay. i do not check ebay listings every day as i do other auction sites (anicyo, YJ, etc) and items tend to sell for less. for a buyer this may be great, but for a seller, well, it's just sad. i think its because japanese auction sites are naturally a better place to find cels and people just get tired of checking ebay? :/
if you plan to sell, i would go with auction sites like YJ that are visted more regularly. i sell on YJ via my deputy (celga).

I saw a bunch of negative posts on Ebay and figured i needed to jump in here..
Ebay is great!!!!....if you know what your doing.....
You CANNOT sell anything high end or non-mass market and get a fair price for it if its anime related, simply not enough buyers to drive up the prices. Sell something non cel related with a devoted buying class (coins, cards, collectables, electroics) and you'll do just fine
Thats being said it's perfectly possable to sell anime stuff and get your money back and more...just have to plan acordingly....
but discovering how to do that is half the fun.....so.....i'll leave you at that

Responding to Silvrdrago's comment, from personal experience, 3 of the most expensive cels in my collection were "Buy It Now" items I pounced on within hours of them showing up on eBay. They were precisely what I was looking for - Studio Ghibli.
Did the sellers do well? To make the BIN palatable, I know they made little, if any profit, in line with what Silvrdrago said. Did I do well? I came away a happy camper every time. I am still happy, but now I know I have the burden of marketing them should the need arise!
That being said, if you have a highly collectible or specialty cel and need to get your investment back, you can always float it around eBay as a BIN for a day or two. You never know if someone is out there waiting - just don't expect huge profits.
