omgosh, if this is really truly an original, .....
now that seriously breaks my heart how badly its been kept. :l
i LOVED that movie!!!

but what im wondering is, what happened to the puppy? did the paint run? was it kept in high humidity or something? how is it that the large dog is relatively ( well for its age) ok and the puppy is falling apart?

To me it looks like some sand-colored paper got stuck to the cel and they pealed it off, leaving bits of the paper stuck to the cel. ??? It's horrible to see something like that, though, right?

Actually...This is how a lot of original Disney cels ended up...

I have a few From Lady & the Tramp, as well as some original Donald cartoons. You can read up on more of the process here:

http://www.acmeanimation.com/courvpg.html

And since all of the originals disney productions were painted onto Nitrate cels...A number of flaws popped up as they aged...The ones I have warped, the paint has cracked and peeled or bled onto the decorative backing, etc...

Hope this helps :)!
