That's a great idea. The original seller may not be able to do much, they may not even know English, but still. Worth a shot.

You're right the YJ seller probably won't be able to do anything but complain to ebay...but at least they will know. It would be cool if they could block the ebay seller from winning the YJ auction! They would have to know their bidder ID though...sigh

I was thinking the same thing, about blocking the eBay person from winning the YJ auction. They might even use the same name for both sites, that's a pretty common practice. So, here's hoping!

As long as the YJ seller cares...after they have relisted it so much they may just want to sell it either way...I really don't think it will sell on ebay for $248 though...I mean, most cel collectors know what YJ is right?

Good point. They may just want to unload that cel for whatever price they can get. And you're right, I seriously doubt someone's going to pay that much for that cel.

Still hopin' it backfires on the eBay guy. Maybe a dead beat will buy it! :evilblk

Hehehe.....that would always be a positive outcome

I have never heard of sellers doing this with YJ before...does this happen often? I'm pretty sure it hasn't happened to me because I check YJ constantly and I would never pay that much for a cel I know isn't worth that much...but still it makes you wonder if there are that many shady sellers like this?

There are a few threads about people selling fakes that look like YJ auctions that are running at the same time, but I suppose this particular case is a little different. The item is real and I suppose the reselling is not illegal. It just seems... wrong. I really don't like what the eBay seller is doing but I guess it's ok..? He's doing what any deputy might do, insofar as, he's offering an item to buyers in the USA who may not have access otherwise. At least the item's not a fake.

I really don't think anyone will buy the eBay auction. Especially after reading this thread, provided they know about Beta.

I agree, at least the items not fake!

But I wonder if you could get the ebay seller in trouble with ebay because they do not currently have the cel in their possession, and it is always a probability that they will not win the YJ auction at all! Doesn't ebay have a reasonable policy that the seller must at least HAVE the item in their possession before listing it?

The AMG cel won't go for that much...but what about the Sesshy cels? They normally go for a whole lot so I guess when I checked the sellers other listings those prices seemed reasonable to me...but what if they don't have those cels in their possession yet either!!!

Well honesty its very little we could potentially do. Its impossible to prove what he or she has or doesn't have. Besides there auction is completely ligit. Looking at there feedback you can already tell there not going to sell you something that doesn't exist and thus are reliable. If anything what there doing is quite smart, there audience is larger by posting in both auction sites and thus increases there chance of sale. If i was selling a cel/sketch and i knew how to list on YJ I would do the same thing.

We were wondering if it was the same seller posting in both auction sites, but it seems as though they are two different sellers.

EOP, the two sellers are not the same people. Hence the problem.

eBay does have a policy about stealing images and HTML, they are fairly strict about that. But I don't know if us reporting it would mean as much as the YJ seller reporting it. If they are even capable of that. We still don't know if the YJ seller knows English.

I don't think there's a policy on eBay about having the item in your possession. Only because I see pre-orders for sale on eBay all the time. The Nintendo Wii and Sony PS3 being two prime examples from recent history. They might have a policy, but we'd have to read it to learn more to know if it's applicable here.

Now, if the eBay seller was selling the same item without stealing the auction design, that might be acceptable. At that point, he's not stealing someone else's work. Then he'd probably within eBay's guidelines. Doesn't necessarily change my opinion of what he's doing, but still...

I suppose if it is the same seller the situation is less suspicious, however what happens if people bid on both auctions? If the seller retracts their auction from YJ, do they get a bad rep like they do on ebay?

It's a very grey area. There are already a lot of resellers who buy items on
YJ and resale on eBay. The only difference here appears to be that the item
isn't yet officially won by them. Is that so much worse than buying
something solely to resale it?
