eBay sellers I need your opinion...

Post by Sugarflower »

I have several questions that I would like your opinions on about how you control your auctions.

#1) How long do you expect for a payment to arrive to you from items you sell?

I can't remember the rules but I think eBay gives the buyer 14 days to pay for items they purchase, however I know some sellers have their own time periods they expect payments to arrive to them. Personally I do not mind waiting 14 days but any longer than that and I feel the buyer is just screwing with you or something.

I state in my auctions that I give 10 days for a buyer to pay for the auction. However if it's an international buyer then I state 14 days. After the 10 days pass (for domestic buyers) and I still haven't received the payment then I send a friendly reminder about it. If I still do not receive an answer or receive the payment by the 15th day then I file a UID with ebay and relist the item.

Does this seem fair to you?

#2) How do you feel about '0' feedback bidders who bid on your auctions?

I'd love to have them bid but it seems like the ones that have bid on my auctions have never paid for the items they win. I USED to ask in my auctions that if any zero bidder wishes to bid then to please contact me first about it just so I know they really want to bid. I don't know, it's something I feel that if someone is just screwing around with ebay auctions then they wouldn't take the time to send you an email about bidding for you item. At least it would seem that a person who really wants the item wouldn't mind emailing you an inquiry. Wow, seems like I'm babbling! X| Hope that made sense on what I was trying to say.

#3) How do you feel about a seller placing a statement/request on their auctions pertaining to all the above stuff I just asked about?

I want to do this with my auction pages but I don't want to come of as being to strict or seem like a meanie. HOWEVER, as a seller I am really starting to get peeved with some buyers.

Your ways seem fair :) but of course it is up to you, although ebay has their rules :?

This is what I did for everything you asked about:

It works for me but might not work for you. It depends on the seller and such. Although everything you said sounds great to me.

As for the 0 feedback bidders....I let them bid because they have to start somewhere. I know its a chance but hey...someone gave you a chance too when you started out :D . Hope that helps any!!

Hi! As soon as an Item sells, I send them a personalized Letter!

Then I'll wait 3 days and if they don't seem to respond, I send the personalized letter over and over and over again once a day until they pay!

I get around 3% worth of non-paying bidders or scams... But it's part of ebay!

Also around 5% of my ZERO feedback bidders don't pay.

I just looked in my feedback and out of 20 Zero Feedback folks, only 1 didn't pay.

I don't put limitations on my auctions, since I wouldn't have sold those 20 items if I didn't allow Zero Feedback folks! You can always relist the items!

Thank You!

p.s. What do you have for sale! I want some!

Hey Sugah,
In terms of international bidders, 14 days sounds excessive IMHO. Unless you expect to receive international money orders, most if not all international bidders are paying with Paypal. I only accept international bids if they pay with Paypal. It's so much easier.

Much like you, I expect payment within ten days of auction end for domestic winners. I feel that is plenty enough time to send a payment if they aren't using Paypal. I usually avoid slow mail periods such as the holidays or IRS time to post auctions.

Just my 2 centavos!

gb

1-Sounds fair to me. I give buyers around 14 days to pay before I email them unless an email is sent to me requested for more time. Don't feel bad about reporting nonpaying bidders, especially if you send them a reminder. If they don't care, neither should you :tongue .

2-I say let them bid, but if you want to, email to see if they're serious about the auction.

3-I used to add "payment be made after 10 days" in my auctions but removed it. I personally don't care if such things are added to an auction. I usually pay at most a week after the auctions end unless something important comes up. I understand why it's included in some auctions, especially when the seller gets too many non-paying bidders :redhot .

Thanks so much for the help and opinions everyone. :ghug:

Zunny, you inspired to me to make a quick touch up on my humble little About Me page. I also changed a little info on my 'reference' auction page too.

Here are my auctions RoboFlonne. :D I'll be placing loads more stuff up tonight and tomorrow too. I have Star Wars items out the wazoo!! My fiance finally decided to part with his enormous collection. :yay I've decided to place up items I no longer collect as well: anime magazines, maybe some plushies (so hard to part with the cuddlies!), anime cels, video games, etc.

So if anyone here knows a Star Wars addict then please show them my auction listings and to save my ebay id to their account, lol.

BTW, I was curious. I want to eventually change my eBay ID. Can you do something like that while you have auctions listed?

Yes you can! However you'll get that "I changed my name" logo for 30 days, I think!

I want all your plushies can you send me a package price?

seems fair enough and you seem like you'd word it politely as well.

the only times i've had issues is when a seller's description page had a very nasty tone (to me).

also had issues when a seller said you *had* to pay within 1 day no exceptions and then proceeded to say to give them 7 days to ship your item. that's complete bs.

those auctions i would have liked but i didn't bother bidding cause the tone was so nasty i didn't want to deal with them.

other than that i don't really have issues with people putting restrictions (ie pay within 7 days or whatever) for their auctions. it's all about how it's worded.
