Money Tree Money Orders???? Help please.

Post by HotIce »

Has anyone had any experience with "international" money orders from Money Tree?

are all money tree money orders "international"?

i got one, from a buyer in WI.... and i didn't think much of it, other than being annoyed b/c I asked for POSTAL money order... but just went "meh money order is a money order" - however today when I went to cash it, the bank goes all psycho on me b/c it says "international" telling me that there's a lot of fraudulant money orders out there, and if it comes back to them then they're going to charge my account and blah blah.... taking down my phone, address, drivers license and all this other junk, INCLUDING the sherriff!!!

for a 15.50 money order. *sighs*

I've been debating on how to handle the feedback... do i give him:
  • (+) for paying on time
(-) for not following payment instructions, and no communication with me what so ever... and all the hassel i had to go through at the bank or
    (n) for a combination of those two reasons
I'm really not concerned about if it comes back and the 15.50 is taken out of my account, i never let my account get that low.. however, i'm insanely perturbed about the lack of communication, wrongful payment, and all the hassel at the bank for such a minimal sized money order.

I've never received or sent money orders via Money Tree. As your auction
clearly stated that you wanted "postal money orders," I'd contact the buyer
and tell them you can't accept his payment. Send it back and make him
submit it properly. Otherwise, you don't want to do business with someone
that can't follow simple instructions. Might be a trouble maker down the line.

Whenever I receive an international money order, my bank makes a big stink
about it. They charge me a small fee of some sort and it's generally a
troublesome experience all the way around.

Edit: Ok, now I know you've already mailed the item. That's too bad.
Hopefully nothing bad will happen. If it does, leave negative feedback for sure.

So sorry to hear about this experience. Let us know what happens.

Well I have never gotten a money order from money tree, but they are a legit business. There are a quite a few in Lansing, they are pay day advance places, although according to their website they do money orders as well. The link is below:

Hopefully it works out ok,

i'm very familiar with money tree, as they are pretty popular around ohio... since i've heard of them, i didn't think too much of the money order from them.... just annoyed the guy couldn't go to the post office.

i'd been looking around and seeing if there had been anyone faking money orders from them or something, but found nothing.... i've never had such a stink over a money order before, espeically when its only 15.50.

guess it just means, putting in another clause saying that if anything other than a postal money order is sent, then it will be returned... maybe even negative feedback being left. how annoying.

how should i handle his feedback?

do i wait the possible month to see if the money order comes back to me?

ALSO - if it does come back, would effect my credit at all? I've never had any experience with this at all. =\

I don't think it will effect your credit rating/FICA score. At least, to my knowledge.

i havent cashed a IPMO.

i have cashed a postal money order before and the bank checked that. i guess to many people are faking them. if it's a legaite one, then you'll probably be ok.

on the feedback, i'd go either with neutral or negative. you could go with robo's idea and not leave any but since your peeved about this, i know you'll leave some kind of feedback.
