Ah My Goddess...something is not right here...

Post by sailorsv13 »

Is this DejaVu?

Ebay: http://cgi.ebay.com/Ah-My-Goddess-anime ... dZViewItem

YJ: http://www.rinkya.com/twview.pl?URL=htt ... /h42138098

Something just doesn't seem right to me...the same exact cel number, picture/scan, and mandarake authenticity? All I know is that this cel was up all last week on YJ and was just relisted, and then I noticed that it popped up on ebay. Is the YJ seller trying to sell the cel on ebay under a different name and simply forgot about the relisting on YJ??? If they did, they certainly want to get more from it on ebay than YJ...10,000 yen compared to $248!

Ahh Bri I am so glad you posted about this. I was going to do it as well. When I saw it on ebay I thought...'hang on that is on YJ at this moment!'
I was wondering if it was the same seller too. But the ebay seller is listed in the US. I dunno. I think it is fishy.

I didn't translate the auction description but I've seen those cels before. It's been relisted many times. The eBay item's location is listed as Tokyo, Japan. So, it's probably the same seller...? But if so, why does the YJ auction say the "seller will not ship internationally." :shrug Very confusing.

Its prob not the YJ seller. Think the ebay seller is going to try to win the auction cheap for 10,000 on YJ since they are in Japan, and can complete the transaction by the time the ebay auction ends at a $150 profit if they were to win at 10,000YEN.

The YJ seller is in Gifu, and not Tokyo. Never been there, but its like 5+ hours away from Tokyo. The seller has all their auctions up with digital pictures, while the ebay seller has mix of digital pictures and scans.
My assumption, the ebay seller is stealing images and selling items before they get it. No Risk, High Return method.

That makes sense. But what if no one buys the cel on eBay? That seems kind of risky, especially considering how many times that cel has been relisted on YJ. Doesn't seem to be much interest for it, even at that price.

Thats why the ebay auction ends days after. Seller can cancel the ebay auction if someone else were to buy the cel off YJ.

I dont think the seller is a cel collector, or at least not knowledgable.
The Sesshoumaru descriptions are so short compared to the AMG auction,
as well as one of the auction says theres a Background, yet we cannot see one, and theres a scan of another cel layer of. One has sequence # described, while the other doesnt. Wasnt there a thread like this awhile ago for cels?

Seller may be stealing descriptions and html too. All the auctions have different type of descriptions.

I meant, risky to resell at that price. He'll probably win the YJ auction but it seems like unloading it for more to someone else will be hard. Profit margin is too thin because I seriously doubt he'll get the extra $150 he's asking.

You're probably right about the HTML stealing as well. He probably doesn't know anything about cels. Hope this whole scenario back fires on him.

No, these No Risk method is, you buy the cel if it sells on ebay. Why the auction BIN. So its sells immediately if someone bids. If theres no bid by the time the YJ auction ends, then the seller will let the cel go.... but if someone were to snipe the auction, then the seller will end the ebay auction. If the seller knows the cels been reposted on YJ, then theres even less risk of someone else coming in an taking winning on YJ.

Say the item was damaged or some other excuse, and no longer can sell it, you can avoid a negative.
No loss cept for insertion fees, but they can make it back from the gouging of the other auctions.

Ohh, I see. Geez, sounds like a bunch of trouble and effort.

I wonder if this can be reported to eBay? I mean, how many times are we going to see this scenario where people are stealing images/auctions and reposting them without the original seller's knowledge? Terrible.

Yeah, but if the guy is making $7/hr at his day job, then $150 is big. Two days worth of work money by scamming one sucker.

Sheesh! I hope this backfires on the seller as well. Their business is so shady! I wonder how the YJ seller would feel if they realized that this seller was using their images to sell the cel that they haven't even won yet for $150 more!!!!?

Is there anyway we can contact the YJ seller to inform them of this? I really think this should stop.

Its just an assumption.

Hey, why not post the ebay URL in the original sellers Q&A section.
