Problem with a FLAKE on ebay

Post by kizu »

Hi all. I thought I'd post this here because at one point or another one of us have dealt with flakes on ebay. You know those problem non-payers whose fingers are too trigger happy. Sorry I sound weird... I'm just pissed off.

Anyway 2-3 weeks ago I had an auction that had a few bids. The winning bidder e-mailed me three times saying that they can no longer pay for the item. So I said I'll have to file a non-paying bidder on them to get back my final value fee and listing cost. I also told them that I will be selling the item to the next higher bidder and thus the item will no longer be available and this was final. They replied with, they cannot pay for the item, not giving acknowledgment to the rest of the ebay FVF and listing refund.

So ebay won't let me file a non-paying bidder without sending an e-mail reminder to the buyer to pay. Ebay forces you to push that reminder button argh! So the buyer, now decides to pay after weeks, eventhough I told her specifically it's no longer available and that my auction stated payment is due in 3 days.

Of course I'll refund back her money, but I've not done so yet. I want to hear first what you all think I should do because this girl is now telling ebay she paid me and I should send her the items (which is way gone now). This is so pathetic and isn't worth my time to be honest. The time spent e-mailing her back and forth, replying to ebay etc. is a waste as my time is worth more than some measly purchase of a flake.

Argh... Sorry if I sound very annoyed.

i would refund their money, and just be honest in your responses to any dispute this bidder may file against you. if you saved any of your emails, be sure the quote them in your responses. the item is already gone, so there isnt much else you can do.

thats my 2 cents! :)

Thanks :) i refunded the girl's money and then closed the dispute attaching the paypal e-mail. I just really didn't want to deal with stuff but at least i think they will refund me. Although I don't really care that much about the money because goodness it wasn't anything significant... But I did care about complaining to ebay about it because I think it's important to report flakes to ebay as there seem to be quite a few nowadays.

Anyway sorry I sounded SOOOO angry. Really it wasn't anything to be so angry about, it just happened when I was tired and have many things on my mind. Thank you for your replies.

Thanks! I feel much better now, probably because I'm home and more relaxed. But yes I'm tired of flakes on ebay... Although it's not happened to me a lot, perhaps 4-5 times the past 5-6 years... I hear more and more flakes nowadays. Got to keep them out of there.

Sigh... Agreed (with the sentiments of keeping the flakes out) sadly (i think) the main issue is that each year millions of more individuals sign up for ebay and it continues to grow. Also since making an account and faking your age is so easy on ebay its possible that young (12-14 year olds) who are interested in just "bidding for fun" and dont really understand (or in some cases just dont care) that there are real people, selling real item for... real money. Overall sorry you got ripped. I believe in Karma. So I am sure someone in the future will get your revenge
