Return for Refund??

Post by iwakuralain16 »

I had someone buy some DVDs from me on ebay with the buy it now option. I shipped them out on the 10th of September via Priority mail. Now all of a sudden she wants to send them back for a refund. No reason in particular... just wants to send them back for a refund. She did not send this comment through ebay but directly to my own E-mail address.

What should I do?!?! I do not have a refund policy... I do not accept refunds period(unless i said the item was something that it wasn't and it was my fault in the auction). Especially Dvds... where someone can copy them and then send them back to where they bought them??? They were not new unwrapped dvds... they were used in perfect condition. I took TONS of pictures too.

What would you do? Hell what should I do in this situation? @_@

I would tell her I'm Sorry I DON'T ACCEPT REFUNDS unless there was a mistake I made!!! She could have just copied the DVD'S and now is trying to make her money back!!! If she gives you a hard time I would contact e-bay to let them know what is going on. GOOD LUCK!!! ^_~

I would tell her to do one, you are not a shop and do not have to give refunds (unless obviously the item was not as described).

Maybe she had a faulty disc in her previous boxset and has swapped it with your working one and now wants to return it (so you get the faulty disc).

Whatever happens, you don't have to give a refund if you don't want to.

I agree with the above suggestions. Since you did not state you have a "return policy" you are not obligated to grant one regardless if she decides she "wants one." I have to agree that its greatly possible she just wants to "have the cake and eat it to" so to speak, by frankly watching it, ripping it, or whatever it doesn't seem to be a legit complaint (even if it was as a seller your only obligated to ship the goods in the same condition you state they are in the auction) nothing more or less. So I would simply tell her "I did not include a refund policy when putting up the auction, thus there is none for the dvds. Have a good day."

Then if she emails you again, simply ignore the first one, then if you see a problem is developing / persists contact ebay regarding harassment through email. Or block her email address. Legally she has no right to demand a refund. its as simple as that.

Couldn't I say...

"Hello ^_^

I am sending you a response to the e-mail that you sent to me earlier today which is shown below this message. I did not include a refund policy when putting up the auction, thus there is none for the dvds. Have a good day.

*insert her e-mail here*

I am not sure if ebay tracks these messages... i wanted her e-mail to be somewhere in there just in case she tries to argue with me. I have 100% positive feedback... I don't want this to ruin it. ~_~ she has 100% positive feedback too. @_@ dammit! I have such terrible luck!

My policy is if there is no mention of a refund policy, then there isn't one period. If she was concerned about returning them, then she should have messaged you through ebay before she bid (I've had people do so).

You are in no obligation to give her a refund, and like the others have said, this sounds a lot like a scam to me.

Sounds like more than enough time to have copied and burned a set. Also, not going officially though ebay, mentioning a reason why, or anything else... it is very shady.

I'd tell her no. I usually have a "no returns/exchanges/refunds" policy listed on the invoice sheets.

Hopefully you kept delivery confirmation proof and such. She might try to claim something through paypal. Keep the email too just in case.

Oh crap... AHHHHHHHHHH. I know have the delivery confirmation somewhere around here. She actually had me send the dvds to another address.... an address still within the college campus but another address. I had to have it changed for it to be sent.

See, you have an email though. I suppose you could try to be preemtive if it seems she's persistance and contact Paypal yourself, and state your concern that she may try to commit fraud. Then you'd have to send a copy of both the email asking for a return for refund (proof showing item arrived) and the next one (wherein she acts persistant in the insistance of obtaining said refund.). At least that way, if she then goes to paypal, they have proof already on file, and nip it in the bud asap.

Then again, I might just be viewing the situation in a paranoid fashion, so I hope its that this situation does not turns out to be. Still better to be forewarned and prepared, should the situation arise.
