quick rant...

Post by Golden Boy »

don't you hate it went potential buyers/watchers ask you everything under the sun about your items even so far as to provide their mailing address or ask about payment options and then they don't bid? i know, it's a free country. since they're free to not bid, i'm free to vent...LOL.

i hate auctions you have with lots of watchers and no ultimate bidders. How can 8 people watch an auction and none of them are willing to pay even the min?

That's a pain but not as much as those same "watchers" contacting you after the fact and offering 1/2 your minimum since it did not sell.

I once had 24 watchers on a cel I had listed starting at $24.99. It ended unsold so I relisted for $19.99. Yup! 24 watchers again and no bidders. :x What did they think I'd drop it to free?! :roll Actually, I waited a couple of months, listed it again and it sold for around $70. :)

Ebay can be frustrating. People can get very annoying. But I always hope that things will work out in the long run. I do hate it when I'm asked a million questions for nothing though.

Don't get mad at people that just watch, we want to know what something will sell for. I often watch sequence mates or series that I may want something from, but not that particular piece.

I don't ask questions either

No hate for the watchers, since I do that myself. But the ones that give me the "survey" of questions and don't bid....grrrrr.

I know what you guys mean, when I sold a few cels on ebay a while back I remember having alot of questions, but few bids. Overall I found the selling process for this reason to be frustrating particually when people ask alot of often quite naff and pointless questions and then say after the auction and my careful measured responses 'oh I missed the end of the auction will you be relisting it?' Sooo irritating! :bwall

I don't know... I would prefer to be asked a million questions BEFORE a bid than what I recently got while selling a professional video camera for my brother in law. Buyer snapped it up for it's $1000+ buyout price and THEN started to ask questions.

I straight out told him that questions were to have been asked BEFORE he bid on the item (as I had clearly stated in my auction) and simply sent him the payment information. Thankfully, he paid up. But what a headache!!

I hate it when people ask questions that have already being answered very clearly in the auction description.

I agree with you there. XD

Here's a familiar incident:

Potential bidder: "How much shipping to NJ 39272762?"

Me: "X amount but it does happen to say this in the auction description"

UGH.

I don't hate the watchers either. It just adds to my frustration when there are so many, I had so many questions too and no one bids.

I've watched plenty of times and forgotten to bid. After a few days if I was serious about bidding and forgot, I typically contact the seller and ask about it. Usually I'm hoping for them to relist so then I'll throw a "starter bid" in just in case I forget again. X| But sometimes it's a seller I know well so we just have an off-site transaction. Once I had a seller give me a private auction. That was awesome because no one else could bid other than me but we still had the safety of ebay protecting our transaction. I only knew him from winning several of his auctions in the past.
