Buy It Now or Best Offer
I have recently found a cel on Ebay that is being listed with the Buy It Now or Best Offer option. When I came upon it, there were already five offers that had expired.
I really want this cel, so I made an offer. The seller just let it expire, instead of refusing it or making a counter offer. I made a second, better offer that the seller let expire too. The other night I made my final offer (Ebay only lets you make 3 for a given item) and I still have not heard anything from the seller - there is only half a day left before it expires.
I am just a little annoyed, as my final offer was only $40 short of the Buy It Now price, not much difference as the Buy It Now price is hundreds of dollars.
I just don't see the point of putting a Best Offer option on your auction if you don't even acknowledge offers given to you. If the seller had declined my offers it would have been pretty clear - at least I would have known that they received my offer and wanted something more. I don't know what is going on - maybe the seller is not receiving emails notifying them that they have an offer on their item? I don't know what to do - I am considering sending the seller a message on Ebay asking them if they received my final offer.
What do you guys think? This is my first time making an offer on Ebay.

While we usually try to respond to any offers we receive, we have let offers expire in the past. Letting three offers in a row expire seems weird, though.
If you really want the piece you should probably just hit the "Buy it Now" button. As you said... it's only $40 on a piece costing hundreds.
Contacting the seller through eBay probably won't get you very far. It'll go to the same email account as the offers, and they're already ignoring those.
That's just our opinion, though. ^__^

I'd be a little wary of the situation, I mean you're obviously
interested in the cel, by them not even bothering to respond in
any way would make me wary on a high dollar purchase. Be sure
to check their feedback rating, maybe that'll shed some light on their
selling practices. Keep us posted on what happens!!

maybe try just contacting the seller through the "ask a question" link underneath the seller's name and ask him why he let it expire?
i mean if he's that difficult that he wont even respond to a simple offer (even by declineing it) then he might run out on you if you do do the "buy it now". ya know?
what's his feedback like?
edit...
oh, sorry uchiha i didnt read the other responses before i wrote this... lol

Alright...so its been three days since I last heard from this seller. The last thing they told me was that they were considering my offer and would get back to me in a day. My offer on Ebay has since expired. I was really looking forward to purchasing this cel. I thought their Buy It Now price was a little steep but I was actually willing to pay it if that was the only way to get the cel. Now I'm pretty sure I never want to risk doing business with this seller in the future. I'm a little surprised at their behavior - they have good feedback.
The good news is that I think I found a similar cel from the same sequence, and its a little less expensive. I am communicating with the dealer right now - they are going to contact the studio to see what is available.
Its really sad that this seller couldn't send me a simple message. They could have made a good deal of money off of me - especially since they have other cels for sale that I was considering purchasing in the future.
