Apparently it looks like a seller is having fun on ebay by repeatedly putting up the same Batman: TAS cel to gauge what price to really sell it for. I've been watching it since Jan 11 and it's getting ridiculous how many times they keep putting it up.

The Jan 27th listing says he had to re-list it because of a non-paying buyer, but to have to do that twice? And with each lot starting at the price the other one sold for? Not buying it.
I'm glad it went out of my price range the first time. I would have been extremely mad if I won it. (Though he probably just shill bidded it so it never sold to a real buyer...) The fact that the current lot's BIN is just a few dollars off of what the Jan 27th lot won it for makes me think he's a shill bidder who won his own lot. Anyone else think this looks incredibly shady? Or am I just missing something?
Ebay seller to be wary of? I think so...

I definitely find it suspicious that it keeps failing to sell despite actually "selling" and receiving bids each time. If you're concerned about shilling, report it to eBay.

Frankly, its the question and answer in the second auction that cracks me up.
As if you are going to post publicly that you want to make a offer and have them
end the auction. But I love the fact that the seller throws out that he paid $800
for it originally. Nothing like trying to convince people they should bid more,
since it is worth so much.

That's too bad
It's a great cel. I feel like I've been seeing this on a few other Batman cels lately too. They get bids, sell for quite a bit, and then pop up again later. I really want to get a Batman cel eventually, but I'm not sure which sellers I can trust :/

I'm honestly surprised this isn't a more chronic problem across more shows than just Batman. Cel prices for a lot of shows are way down, especially on eBay, and yet sellers just aren't willing to accept that they aren't going to get what they paid in most cases. There are a couple of cels up there that I've had my eye on, even offered on, and the sellers just refuse to budge. And they just keep on re-listing, I suppose out of the hope that someone will come along and be willing to pay what they want for them. My thought is just... meh. Whatever. If they want to sell it, they may eventually come down on the price, or perhaps they'll get lucky.KuroiTsubasa4 wrote:That's too badIt's a great cel. That said, I understand the sellers' perspective, too. There are some cels that my hubby and I refuse to sell for much less than we've been asking. And we don't mind holding onto them for as long as it takes to find a buyer. But, if I do that, I'm going to set a reserve price or a higher starting bid -- if it sells, I sell it for that price and suck it up. *shrug*

I'm really glad all of you guys agree! I had to keep doing a double take each time that lot was put up. It was ridiculously obvious seeing it up again multiple times with the price it previously sold for. Though I think the seller finally got what they wanted, with whatever means they chose to do that with.
@Zerospace-I'm not going to really report anything now, but if I see that lot up for a fourth time, then I think I will. xP But for now I think this shady little deal is over...
@Gonzai-I didn't even notice their FAQ either! Thanks for pointing it out. I guess that was their was way of loosely covering their own tracks with a paper thin excuse to explain why the lot has shown up three times. Like you said, really obvious and laughable...
@KuroiTsubasa4- I know! I want to add some more Batman:TAS cels to my gallery, but it seems like sellers are more particular with their prices on them, to the point of not selling if they are won at a cheaper price. x_x It also stinks when you see a Batman:TAS cel go for a good price, then it pops up later at the $200+ mark from another seller. (Nothing shady, just sucky that a good price was taken advantage of for a resale..)
@Zerospace-I definitely know what you mean. I can understand a seller wanting their money back on a deal, but sometimes they list their cels at unimaginable prices, ones that wouldn't have even sold if the show was still in it's prime fandom. I noticed a few Inuyasha cels listed at the $1k mark, where I have seen better looking sequence mates sell for like $20 on YJ lol. I guess you just can't budge some people.
