I finally heard today from my Aunt and Uncle who lived in Biloxi Mississippi.
They as well as my cousin's family are safe with relatives in northern Florida. Both Homes as well as my cousin's business are totally destroyed.
They told me of the evacuation and the widespread damage.
What has totally thrown me for a loop was that one of my nephew's Robert was on the front line of Red Cross volunteers who were dispatched to New Orleans. They told me that his convoy of trucks that were loaded with food , water and emergency supplies was stopped from entering the city before the levee's broke by the Louisiana National Guard under orders from the Louisiana dept. of Homeland Security and the Govenor. My nephew said they wanted the people who sought shelter at the Superdome and the convention center to leave and evacuate and felt that is the Red Cross & Salvation Army were to bring their supplies in, those at the shelters would not leave. Even after the levee broke and the city started to flood His group was still not allowed to enter the city and the ended up turning around and moving their operation to Baton Rouge.
This seemed to fantastic to believe since there has been no word about this in the national media but the Red Cross confirms this happened on their website. http://www.redcross.org/faq/0,1096,0_682_4524,00.html

Yep it's true... we saw it a few days ago from one of the news sources... who knows which, as they all kinda blend together after awhile.
Scary, isn't it.

Yeah, I saw that on tv a couple of days ago
This is MADNESS.
What I also think is scary as hell is there was an anchor on John Stewart that said the National Guard and Police were preventing the media from filming and reporting a lot of what is going on down there. He said a Police officer actually drew his weapon and pointed it at him and his film crew to get them to stop filming.

I went and corrected the link to the Red Cross story.
They are doing a heck of a job down there. Thankyou all for contributions to the help for the victims.

Let us hope we don't have to deal with another terrorist attack anytime soon. Our government will screw up even more given their record on this natural disaster. So sad!
Glad to hear your loved ones are all safe. Sorry about their homes though.
