Video games based on manga/anime- a good idea?

It's a dreadful idea that taints the original medium

They're brilliant! I love playing as my fave characters and exploring the worlds I've glimsed in a book/on video

Champloo on PS2 + Video Game conversions

Post by Krafty »

What do you think of manga/anime adaptations to the video game format?

I recently discovered that "Samurai Champloo: Sidetracked" is due out at the end of March in the US and it looks mediocre to say the least
[Screencaps]

Too often these games cash in on the characterisations and visual flair of the original series but the gameplay is often pushed to the sidelines.
I'm sure the product is actually 'rushed' to get it on the shelves quickly and the publishers use old game engines to save time and effort, but that's no excuse when the consumer wants a decent product for their $50.

There are some good games- ".Hack//Sign" for example and many other stand-alone games have spawned their own cartoons/comics in turn so it's swings & roundabouts.
Let's not delve into the games that have had live-action movies made from them [Street Fighter, Resident Evil, Doom etc] :hurt: *heh*

There have been some excellent anime to video game conversions - I've got the Magic Knight Rayearth SNES and Saturn games and they're great :)

*played his Bleach PSP games to death*

Huh? You were talking?

I haven't tried any others, since they all seem to be fighting games these days. >_<

There's someone behind you.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Maybe I'm the only one, but I just have never had any interest in games that came from anime/manga/movies. It just seems that they are nothing but fighting games, and I prefer RPGs. :shrug
