I use my.yahoo.com for my homepage. And it's been very reliable with up to date content and breaking news but ever since this past Saturday, nothing has changed. Nothing. The news stories, the comics and the pictures are the same. I cleared my cache, my cookies and set the browser option to check for updates each time I visit a page. The odd thing is that none of the other pages I seemed to visit had this problem. I even wrote the yahoo help desk and followed their suggestions and nothing worked. For some reason, I got the bright idea to connect directly to my modem instead of using the wireless modem. When I connect directly to the modem the my.yahoo.com page is fine. Nothing wrong. Everything is spanking new. But when I go back to my wireless connection, it's all old again. Back to Saturday's headlines, comics and images.
What's the deal? Direct connection works fine. Wireless, doesn't work. Anyone take a guess?
The only thing I can think of is your wireless browser is fried or has something wrong with it. Have you checked the advanced internet settings for it lately?
Hmmm... that's quite odd. If the wireless connection were fried... no websites would work and all of them would load from cache. What kind of wireless device are you using? (router, access point?) Also, have you made absolutely any changes to your computer in the meantime? (windows updates, even).
Wild and probably incorrect guess from a non-geek. We just got a message from our provider about needing to be sure we did not have it set up as a static IP (god... I don't know what the terminology is) or pretty soon things wouldn't work properly.
Any chance that your wireless setup is saying you're a fixed IP address and that's screwing things up?
ummm... I'll just go in the other room now, sorry. For a second I thought I might have a glimmer of a clue

James A. Michener, The Drifters
Well... the issue resolved itself. I have no idea why but it works now . I didn't do anything. Thanks for the input though. Hopefully I won't need your advice in the future.
