Shipping Question :(

Post by Prince Vegeta »

I'm a bit confused friends :?

How would I go about saving the receiver of a package the tax money?
I guess I would mark the package down as a gift, but then what would I put down as the value of the packge. I want to make sure that it is fully insured for the value it was sold.....so I guess my questions are....

Would it be a bad idea to mark the package down as a gift with a much lower value then it was sold in order to save the receiver tax money?

Also would the amount written on the package be the amount that it is insured for?

Thanks a million :)

Ill let the new owner decide what they want to insure it for, than making up my own amount. But, Ill never insure it for more than what they paid for.

Each country has their own rules. Some countries don't tax unless it's over $20 or over $40. It's illegal to mark it as a gift if they paid for it.

Definately ask the buyer if they'd like any special requirements, especially if you're shipping abroad. I personally make sure to ask sellers if they can declare a lower value for me when I buy things and usually specify a preferred amount.

It will usually be insured for however much is declared on the customs label. If the buyer wants a low value, they'll have to understand it can only be insured for that amount. :)

If you're only selling a cel or something, it has no specific retail value anyway so regardless of however much you sold it for, you won't get in trouble for declaring a lower value.

Most international sellers I get cels from mark them as NV (no value) It would likely screw getting insurance though for the right amount.

The stuff I buy is usually marked as a gift. I haven't thus far encounted a problem. Some packages I get are insured but still marked as gift. I don't know what would happen if something got lost though.

When I sent something overseas I marked it as gift and it got there fine.

As a buyer I am thrilled to hear that you care so much /no1

Personally, I like it when the seller asks me questions like this. It makes me feel better about the purchase and that I can trust them.
