I played the trombone for a few years in grade and middle school. I really sucked, though. Probably because I didn't practice . . . and I have no musical talent whatsoever. :P (I'd really hate to sit next to me at church, 'cuz I will sing the hymns)

I'd love to learn how to play the piano, but I don't see that happening anytime soon. :shrug

I can tell you need practice, you're meant to blow the instrument rather than suck.

And at that point I'll exit this conversation. Too easy, far too easy...

I have no idea what that means.

You left out a category in the poll:

* Several, and I suck bilgewater at all of them.

:D
(Which is NOT the same as sucking on the flute. Seriously, now.)

I studied piano for a long time, a very long time ago, and never got very good. It turns out that because I also have that lovely astigmatism vision, reading music is a challenge. Notes...move....because the lines look crooked! So I played by ear and by memory, which worked reasonably well.

Have my very own personal spinet piano now and barely ever touch it.

I also played guitar for probably 10 years or so and was quite good. However, in '82 I developed carpal tunnel syndrome, and the small amount of permanent damage I had from it includes doing anything that involves pinching (read: left hand on guitar frets) for more than a couple minutes at a time. So now, I suck.

My best musical instrument these days is the playlist on my computer at work :D (how many times in a row CAN you play the same Buck-Tick song, Kay?)

You seem uncertain. I never noticed that similarity.

As a matter of fact, I play a Trombone.
Nothing super-cool special, I know, but I was in this jazz band for two years- it was good times. Traveled to a lot of festivals, did some gigs. I don't play as often as I did in school, just now and again.
Keep on keepin' on Dilandau.

It looks like the piano seems much like the standard. I played piano too - started when I was 5 or 6 and ended when I was 15 when my grandfather died. I guess it wasn't the same when someone isn't cheering you on like you're the greatest player in the world. But I miss it. I used to abuse those keys so bad when I was pissed. :)

"Do you" play a musical instrument should probably be "Did you" in my case. :) I played violin from 3rd grade until college. (I wanted to play the viola, but even the 1/4 sized one was too big for me, so they made me play the smaller violin. :( ) I loved playing when I was younger because I lived in a big city and my school had an orchestra. Even though I was never very good, I loved sitting toward the back and playing because it sounded beautiful and was fun just being a part of it. But when we moved when I was in Jr. High, my new school didn't have a strings program and I had to take private lessons. Then it was boring and I hated it. I was glad for the experience though... it gave me an appreciation for classical music that most of my friends don't share.
