It's good to know who you're up against and what their bidding strategies are. A lot of strategies I keep in mind, some people bid in the last minute, some bid in small increments. I vary my strategy in case someone monitors how I bid :P
The most important factor is WHAT you bid, but I'll keep those details to myself, *hee hee*
Wow, James! Talk about being complete! Can I order a scouting report from you? LOL

That Collection Master looks interesting, but I'm so dang lazy...oh, well.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Well, Lemar, if you fail to plan- plan for failure

I like to have some strategies worked out to get the better of my opponents and get me the best deals.
When I know other bidders routines [they won't know that I know, heh] I've been able to win auctions by small margins and I can conversly get revenge on a few by upping the price of an auction or just bidding under their maximum bids.

It may seem sad, but I do it for good reasons. These stealth tactics go unnoticed because other people don't think such 'systems' exist, or they are ignorant of them. I like to think my auction success is down to such systems a large proportion of the time.
The only failure is when the other bidder bids more- but hey, that's the auction game! ^__^

The secret dossier is on it's way to you. TOP SECRET, CLASSIFIED!
Check the designated dead letter drop at the third owl toot *nudge nudge*

LOL

Seriously, if anyone wants some bidding tips just ask. I've thought about the psychology of bidding tactics a lot. I won't even ask you to pay for my "Online Auction Success" e-book j/k

This quote made me ROFL. X| :P

As for the Collection Masters program, I found the actual site for it but they want $30 for the program. I didn't spot any on Ebay...boo.

Welcome to the collector's world where backstabbing and debauchery is commonplace! I jest.

You have to remember that when your bidding, it's you against everyone else- noone gives a toss about you, even if you happen to care about them.

I often relent on certain auctions when I want the buyer to get a good deal, I'm happy to help them out as long as we're not competing.
But in a calm and realistic manner, I'm aware that you need to bid effectively on an item you want to win. That's not being dishonest or unfair, just sensible.
Tactics can often be subtle like bidding a fixed amount at a certain time. It communicates intentions to other bidders which you can work to your advantage.

Oh yeah, sorry for bending your thread, Keropi Image

Just to keep you guys informed, I went and ordered Microsoft Access 2003 from Atomic Park (not Atomic Club :emb ). Unfortunately they sent me an Upgrade version of Access instead of the original. :(

I was hoping to start inputing series sketch data into the program since I am not working Tuesday and Wednesday, but it looks like I'll have to keep using paper and pencil for at least a couple more weeks. :?

*sigh* I'd better start writing down all that information from the past 15-16 days of YJ auctions I was tracking before that info disappears. I'll try to include the info about when I first seen the sketches, who was selling it, what it went for and what numbered anime episodes aired at that time. I have to figure out the number of the anime episodes right away. The airing dates are frequently not posted at Anime News Network Anime Encyclopedia and it's often hard to figure out the exact dates.

It'll be nice to use Access to include entries by "type of sketch" instead of only giving them generic "sketch" labels.
