2008 Oscars

Hey everyone!

Oscars are coming up soon. I always like to predict winners even if I haven't really seen any movies. I signed up on Oscar.com a long time ago and always create a private group for friends who want to play along. This year I thought I'd invite everyone here on beta.

The rules are very simple. Just sign up on http://www.oscar.com. Once you're done with that, find the group name Anime Addicts. That's what I called my group this year. Enter the password. Pick who you want or think is going to win. Check it out on Oscar night or anytime after that. It will automatcially give you a tally as to how many you got right as well as how many others in your group got right.

If you're interested in playing, just pm me for the password. It's a private group so I don't want to announce it on the board but feel free to invite your friends to play too.

OK, I'm locked in! Some really tough choices this year. For the first time in a while, I have actually seen each Best Film nominee. I predict an upset this year. However, I don't see any film dominating the awards this time around. I say no film will win more than three major awards.

Yeah, a few of my decisions were tough too. In two cases, I picked who I wanted to win and not who I thought would win. I always have to pick my Johnny Depp movies regardless.

Okay! There's still plenty of time for anyone who wants to join us. Everyone is welcome!

Since a few beta members now have the "easy" password, feel free to post here saying you want to play. One of us will give you the password. I don't seem to be getting emails announcing pms again.

But I'll keep randomly checking.

I've gotten a few requests but so far it looks like blueheaven and I are going to play by ourselves so come and join the fun. The most common excuse I've heard from my RL friends was "I didn't go to the movies this past year so I won't get any right". And that's exactly what you shouldn't be worrying about. Who cares?! I'll lose anyway.

I saw exactly 2 movies in the theatre in 2007. Only one of those got any nods.

It's supposed to be fun. It's supposed to be a guessing game that you don't need any talent or knowledge for. And it's open to all beta and rubberslugers, their families and friends. PM either BH or I to receive the password. All who ask shall receive.

Exactly! It's not like this is for money. It's just for fun. So come, join our reindeer games and sign up. If nothing else, pick your favorite actors and actresses.

Edit: Okay, I signed up, but I don't see Anime Addicts in the list of groups.
