The things we endure for our cels...

Post by Cypress »

So I went to my po-dunk post office to get an International Postal Money Order for a cel I just bought and the woman behind the counter tells me that they don't have them at that Post Office. 8O I gave her the look of disbelief and she recanted and said that they only do them for Canada and Mexico. 8O I told her that I have gotten them for Japan before and she got all huffy and started running around looking for...something. Then she stopped and asked how long ago it was. I told her about 2 or 3 years and she said, "Oh thats why then we don't do them anymore...yeah that is one of the countries we stopped doing them for." 8O
But I was just on the USPS website today and it said you send them to Japan...
Oh. It did?
Yes. It did.
Well...well ok then.
She then proceeded to get my IPMO and continued being a crazy bitch throughout the rest of the transaction. X| But she told me to have a nice day afterwards! :^^:

She is like that every time I go in. She is like that to the whole town. (I worked at the Chamber of Commerce for the summer so I know this to be true) But no one can do anything about it because they all fear Postal retaliation. :hurt: Stuff being damaged or lost or whatever sinister thing this monster can cook up.

I am held captive by this woman until she dies or I move. :l I have to be nice to her or fear her wrath on my poor innocent cels!

:D I'm actually beginning to find the whole situation to be quite humorous, in a cosmic joke kind of way. :D

:? Yeah, they haven't stopped doing them for Japan. Which is good, because IPMOs are about the only way to send money to Japan that almost all citizens there are comfortable with.

Most of the people at my local PO are super nice. :D

Yeah, postal employees vary widely from place to place. I always got my IPMOs at one small PO rather than the nearest one, because the clerk was very efficient and knew exactly what to do, while it always brought all the business in the other to a grinding halt as the Postmaster and her two assistants pored over the instruction booklet together to figure out what the heck they were supposed to do.

I once went into a bank to ask for a check to be made out in Pounds Sterling. (to register for a conference in the UK). The clerk gave me such a long, blank stare that I fully expected him to ask if I wanted ground round or ground chuck.

That situation actually is kinda funny if you think about it...But at the same time it's kinda iffy (don't you hate it sometimes when youre in a situation like that?).

This topic reminds me of how when I use to go to the post office constantly for MO and IPMO and I came in there so often that they all knew me! :^^: :D

Actually, the PO workers in my area are rather nice, if not indifferent. I feel lucky :^^:

In the past I've had to drive everywhere to get to the MAIN post office, to pick up cel deliveries, when the carriers don't leave the package on my porch. It stopped when I had SMJ stop adding little extras to the shipping :P

I had to go to 3 post offices in my area before I found one that did IPMOs for Japan. 8O I live in a big city too. I guess most post offices agree with their customers that IPMOs are a pain in the side. I don't get them anymore. I'm quite willing to fork over a handling fee to my deputy for the ease of PayPal.
Can you hear this fangirl squee?!
