I was shocked to hear today that one of the most talented comic artists of this generation Dave Stevens http://www.davestevens.com/ lost his long battle with Leukemia .
I have known Dave going on 20+ years and he was best know as the creator of the Rocketeer which was made into a movie as well as bringing back the Pin-up style of artwork especially his rendition of work featuring Betty Page.
I just have been in a daze since I received the phone call.

Dave Stevens RIP
"Like the wind crying endlessly through the universe, Time carries away the names and the deeds of conquerors and commoners alike. And all that we are, all that remains, is in the memories of those who cared we came this way for a brief moment." Harlan Ellison

Wow, that is sad. Such a young man, too. He, James O'Barr, and Mike Grell were probably my favorite artists from the current age of comics. I was a huge fan of the Rocketeer comics and movie. He really nailed that pulp serial genre and brought new life into it once again.
Time is but an illusion. Lunch time...doubly so.
Man... this just took me by complete surprise - very, very sad news.
His tribute book is supposed to be released soon. It is said to have pieces in it that haven't been seen for over twenty years
(at least that's what the author claims). I'm happy that I was able to contribute to it with this:
