Anyone ever check their "Your Items" section several hours after the auction ended and it says that you lost the auction, but later you find out that you had won it? Is this normal lately?

It isn't "normal," but it has happened on occasion. I went over budget one month because I saw the "lost" designation and put the money I had bid on that on another item, which I won. Later I got a "Congratulations" notice on both items and so had to pay for both. (Oh, well, they were both nice to have.)
Here's a link to a brief discussion of the issue on SMJ's forum.

You might also check with Nick directly to see if there is, in fact, a new issue that's cropped up due to YJ's server maintenance.

I seen that thread, but I think it has more to do with getting e-mails saying you were outbid. I haven't been getting any false e-mail messages. It wasn't on an r server either.
Let's see if I ended up winning it later today. I think I did, but I can't be sure. This might be the second time this has happened to me recently. If I didn't win no biggie since I didn't expect to win it anyway.
EDIT November 3rd, 2009 2:04 PM PST:
Yeah, I did win. It switched again.

I looked over the forums again, and there was an issue having to do with whether the seller blocked deputy services by cancelling bids from them. In that case, the item would show up as "Lost" even if yours was the only bid. But if it switched back and forth, and eventually went "Won," then it's not a cancelled bid. Pehaps it was a bid that for some technical reason didn't get posted, then got fixed Japanside. I'd query Nick or someone at SMJ if it happens again.
But all's well that ends well.
Congrats on your quirky win!
