I may admit there are licence made horrible videogame, but reuse a so brilliant title and copycat the opening credits with the statue zoom and police car light.... arrrrrrghhhhh.
Ain't HAWAI FIVE-O, it's a simple reboot from the BAD BOYS movie nothing more. Jack Lord was stunning in the original, each episode shot as a true movie,
I check out trekmovie.com each day for Star Trek news and Sci-Fi/Fantasy/Supernatural/Comic Book Movie update news. The creators are posting there (mainly Bob Orci). I remember him saying in so many words that it was the network that wanted the story written to be like that. So the network had a lot of say in how they wanted the remake to be. They had a set plan and they wanted the story to fit the general outline. They had to write the story the way it was ordered it so that's how it turned out.
The way I feel about it is that when a remake is too different from the original it's essentially a different show. I wish they wouldn't attach the name to the remake when it's THAT different from the original. But it's easy marketing remakes and the studios have wanted to do a lot of them lately.
