Yeaah, I've noticed the differences too, when I went to Hong Kong a few years back, they had Yam and Pineapple Milkshakes amoung many other wonderous things.Ashura wrote: I remember one day, we went to McD's (yes, I went to McD's, it was near the last few days before we had to fly back to the states, and I spent a lot of money on stuff and food....) I liked the Teriyaki Burger that they had, but disliked the Ravioli Burger...ugh. The cherry apple pie was good.....wished they had it here in the states. It is hilarious how different McD's is in various places. In Maine, the McD's has lobster rolls during summer, which is unheard of in the Western part of the U.S.A.
I mean I'm not even a fan of McD's, but the range seems way better elsewhere than over here in England..

Thats so awesome!! I'll bookmark that site so that I can hunt for jobs once I graduate. If you get bored someday, drop by Hikone and visit me!!Rekka Alexiel wrote:I'll be going back to my Nagoya either in Sept or Oct. I don't know the exact details right now, since all of this happened within the course of a couple days... but seriously, if anyone is looking for a job in Japan, definitely check out gaijinpot.com. I sent out a zillion different emails with resumes and got little to no response before I applied for stuff on this Website.

Don't worry I will remember.

The Three Laws of Robotics:
1. A robot may not injure a human being, or, through inaction, allow a human being to come to harm.
2. A robot must obey the orders given it by human beings except where such orders would conflict with the First Law.
3. A robot must protect its own existence as long as such protection does not conflict with the First or Second Law.

Enough about me, let's talk about my dress.

Thanks so much everybody!! I still can't believe how quickly this all happened... I'll be in Japan by the end of the month!! WOW!
oh yeah, it can be overwhelming at times, but it's fun.Ashura wrote:I speak little to no Japanese at all. I would love to go and be a teacher, but I would be totally lost by myself
Heehee, that takes some getting used to, too, but I don't mind it too much. I think they said it's about a 20 min walk from the apartments to the school, which is exactly the same distance I had to walk from the train station to the elementary school I had an internship with the last time I was in Nagoya. It's a good time to call home.Ashura wrote:I still can't get used to walking everywhere!
It's a year and a half contract with chance to renew at the end if you want. It's a good amount of time to at least figure out what I want to do for the rest of my life, you know... 'cause I still don't really know. I'll see how I like teaching the 'lil 'uns first.Baakay wrote:for how long are you going?? Is it a permanent job, or...?

Yeah, my friend who's in Osaka right now did the JET for a year...and he absolutely hated it. I guess they stuck him in this horrible high school where the students didn't want to do anything and they were all really routy. You wouldn't think Japanese students would be that way...but I guess there are the good and bad schools... Just a shame he had such a horrible experience. He quit after that year.Baakay wrote:My best friend from high school is in China right now, doing the same sort of thing. I think this is her third trip. She's had one of those "you don't get to choose" experiences, which really was miserable

Heya Nikki!! I forgot you were going to JCMU! Did you meet a guy named Dane? He's my bud from around here. I guess he's still there for a week or so...so you can go hit him on the head and say it was from me. lol He'll be coming home shortly before I have to leave... =(Elendil wrote:Thats so awesome!! Well, I'm still in good 'ol GR as of right now, wont be leaving until the 31st. Is he there to work in the World Expo? If he's there when I get there, I'll look him up.Rekka Alexiel wrote:Heya Nikki!! I forgot you were going to JCMU! Did you meet a guy named Dane? He's my bud from around here. Seriously though, I'm sure at some point other than Sept. I'll be heading down to the Nagoya area. We should hook up somewhere or something. Besides, hehe, I'll be working on my 2nd or 3rd year in Japanese at that point so I'm sure you'd know some of the cool non-touristy areas that I'd have no way to talk my way into.

Ohhhh, I was thinking you were already there. Yeah, he's leaving to come back home this Saturday, so you'll pry miss him. I hope you'll have a good experience there; he had been there two times already and really disliked it... I guess he was upset that there was so much homework (well, duh, that's a given isn't it?) and that Hikone's kinda tucked under and away, relatively far from any large city. I mean, you can still travel around, but for a weekly trip or something into the city is pry out of the question. I don't mean to jinx you or anything, but maybe he was just a grump. lolElendil wrote:Well, I'm still in good 'ol GR as of right now, wont be leaving until the 31st. Oh yeah!! Totally!! I don't know where *everything* is, but I know my way around Naka-ku in Nagoya pretty well.
