I'm less visible because on Wednesday I'm preparing to teach my class on Japanese folklore and popular culture, Thursday I drive 4 hours and teach 2 and a half, then crash at a colleague's house, Friday I drive back, Saturday I recover, Sunday I do household tasks, Monday I do research for my other project, Tuesday I split between Monday's task and panic for Wednesday, and ...

So I don't check in as often and don't read posts as thoroughly as at other times. Has nothing to do with Beta ... just the limits of my own endurance. I really appreciated the tip on cel bags recently, and I've been very happy with Intenseanime.

And I am working on an update (probably in two weeks: watch for a new gallery) and looking forward to Katsucon this Friday.

I have never had a lot of time on a regular basis, but lately it seems like there hasn't been much to look at but a bunch of for sales and birthdays for people that aren't around (or much)

The post thread was fun, but just when it might have gotten into the CLASSIC thread area it got poo pooed.

I miss the old days when we could talk about new socks, coffee and tootsie pops :l

Aaaaahhh!! Thank god! I knew I couldn't be the only one!!

(ok, so I knew I wasn't the only one. :D )

I'm depressed because I finally got what the spouster called "Cheezigo" done for yon Perv-Chan and he's not perfect. He's not. He's my what, 6th fan cel ever? 7th? You would think I could cut myself some slack but NoooOOOoooo. He had to be PERFECT.

PERV-ect?

:P

I'm SO happy you guys are still here!! I was just wondering! You don't have to explain "real life" to me, I used to have one myself. Some would say I still do but I'm not so sure about that...

So maybe I'll go dig out that Kenshin doujinshi... Dang! I'm supposed to scan that for Kittens! She needs more nekked Kenshin pictures too! :dgrin

pssst.... pervish one... I won a semi-nekked Kenshin today, does that count? :D now watch the gods of cel karma squash me like a bug because I mentioned it...

Heh I was wondering about what everybody was up to as well, and why all the sale/offer threads were up...until I made one myself >_< :P A mixture of RL stuff and mountains of great cels popping up are the reasons I'm jumping on the offer and sale bandwaggon, as well as why I've been scarce lately :emb But you don't mind that at all, do you Baakay :suga: ? Hopefully the thread slump will end soon, and more people get back to regular posting habits. Then we can all "party like its 1999" :buds:

My internet connection keeps screwing up big time. We're having a little Northeaster (or NorEaster as everyone here pronounces it :P ) here, so my cable and internet connection keeps blipping in & out every 5 minutes. It's frustrating.

Interesting topic Baakay! It's funny that it got brought up since the mods and admins have been discussing way of "updating" this forum to cater to newer shows and interests. The discussions stopped when we had hosting issues, but now that that's over the ideas will probably be discussed again. I think we all agree there are outdated areas of this forum that haven't been visited since 2005 or earlier. They need changing and there are so many new shows that need areas for chatting about them.

I'm still here occasionally, but not nearly as much as I used to be. Never thought I'd turn into a lurker, but it just doesn't "feel" the same here anymore.... I just don't feel compelled to throw in my nickel's worth. Which is okay... no big loss for you there! :) Maybe I'm getting bored/boring... maybe I just need to watch Bleach or something so I will have something relevant to say! :D That probably is my problem: I haven't watched any new anime to speak of for over half a year or more. My brain is just full of the "same old same old." I only even open about half a dozen categories anymore... but my family DOES get better dinners now that I don't spend so much time typing here. ;)

[edit: Geez! That's the most depressing post I think I've ever made! :) heehee! My normally sunny personality doesn't usually sound so glum. Sorry 'bout that! Didn't mean to be a wet blanket. Guess I'm more bummed about my lack of Beta participation than I thought. :)]

I can tell you why I've gone into "lurk mode"....so many threads have so much personal "in jokes" material in it, it's difficult for an outsider to maintain interest. And then on top of that drama takes on a whole new dimension, when someone's toes get stepped on in the slightest bit, I can see why the mods seem to have a heavy hand.

I joined and loved Beta for the help and support it provides in a really strange and goofy hobby.(wow! there are others that worship paint and plastic too!?) Beta increased my knowledge and provided me with contacts. Beta has given me friends that I will treasure. I don't know what will be the next phase for Beta, but I will lurk and find out.

I'm totally with 'ya on the new anime thing, Shells! I'm so far behind in seeing the "hot" shows that seem to be generating most of the discussion these days. I just don't have much time to watch anime, really. Since my kiddo hit her "toddler days" (hit them running, I might add ... :D ) I have very little free time each day. I try to do a really fast Beta check a couple of times a day, but, otherwise, I would rather use my free time for writing or reading. So ... my anime watching has fallen by the wayside. A lot of times, when I come here, I feel really out of touch, since I know so little about the new shows.

[Wow ... I kind of joined you on the "totally bummed" wagon, didn't I? EEEP! X| ]

I've personally just been busy with the whole school+work thang. But when I do come on (about once a day), I have found that some days I just post in the Something Fun thread and leave it at that. :shrug

I wouldn't say that we're all talking about new shows . . . we're really just not talking. I was taking a look at the statistics, and quite a few of the topic starters (the ones who aren't moderators, at least) have either slowed down their posting to the extreme or just stopped coming in general. You know what that means? We've got to pick up the slack! :P Not that I'm much of a topic-starter myself . . .

Actually, for me at least, cel collecting has slowed down a bit. Part of that is my own doing, but the other part is that there seems to be a dry market at the moment for the series I collect. I had assumed that it was the same all the way around. After all, there was about five days or so when no one had started a new thread in the Gallery section . . .

It seems like there are more people leaving--not really migrating, just leaving--than there are joining. Not that we don't have a lot of newbies, but I never really see any of them posting . . . or introducing themselves (yep, that People thread is looking mighty empty  ). Sometimes, like my drama teacher told the class years ago, you've just got to run naked into the ocean.
